Feeds taking a long time??

Aisling is doing well with latching on and feeding well. The only problem is that she feeds for about 20 minutes on one side, takes a 10-20 minute break and then feeds for about 20 minutes on the other side. She won't take the other boob until she's had her break but it does extend her feeding time alot - any ideas on how to get her to latch onto the other without her little siesta?!

Not sure how to stop the siesta but I'd say if she's only been on one side for 20 mins then breaks for 20, I'd say you need to put her back on the same side to drain that first breast properly.

mervsmum I needed you when I was struggling

I remember courtney being on me for 40 mins at a time... feeling asleep then Id lay her in her moses cot for her to wake 10 mins later and want to latch back on

Lu - this is just a theory - mine not a scientists - but maybe as she's getting more efficient at getting your milk, she's working a touch harder and jusy needs a rest.....you know like when you've had a massive slap up sunday dinner and you just need half an hour for it to go down before the sticky toffee pudding arrives.....

Mmm, that's a good point, maybe it's just the food coma kicking in! Hopefully it's something she'll get better at over time, she's made so much progress already this week

we had this aswell. And i remember my mw tellin me exactly the same as MM's mum said about the meal thing. As she gets older and gets stronger you'll probably find the feeding times cut down.
