Before I was pg I suffered with really bad migraines and since hitting 2nd tri ive had 1 near enough every week, paracetmol wasnt working so went to the dr's and she gave me paramax which is a stronger paracetmol, my mw said they are fine to take but i feel so guilty on little one

More I worry the more worse the headache gets

Dont worry i feel awful i had really bad toothache over the weekend (had the tooth taken out yest) and para's werent even takin the edge off so ended up takin a couple of ibuprofens just for some relief, i no you shouldnt do it as it thins the blood and stuff but had no choice as was the weekend. Im sure you'll be completely fine, they wont cross over to the baby so its all just for u :) if ur happier babys happier

Paramax has got an anti-sickness drug in it, but isn't a stronger painkiller. Were you nauseous as well? If not I'd pop back and ask for something different.
I suffer from migraines as well - and have had to take the occasional codeine tablet, as long as you're not using it in high doses and very regularly the baby will be fine :D But in the end I found that an Indian head massage from the local beauty salon once a week helped just as much!
x

was feeling sick aswell, my mum keeps reminding me that if i couldnt take them the dr wouldnt have given them to me also i keep thinking about women that still smoke when pg i bet they dont feel guilty like me

The doctor gave me co codomol for bad migraines as nothing else works, and for my back, by i also feel guilty for taking them, even tho there safe in pregnancy in small doses

I feel guilty too, just shows you care about your baby. Both meds in paramax are completely safe in pregnancy (am a GP myself)
I avoid taking paracetamol if I can - but sometimes you need to, and your bub will be fine x

thank you hubblybubbly you have put my mind at ease more now :) x

I feel that way too. And it gets worse AFTER I take it so I dont anymore. I have only ever taken 2 painkillers so far in pregnancy. For headaches I tie a thin scarf really tight around my head...

I have been having tension headaches on and off for the last few weeks; my ob/gyn said at wk 16 scan that I could take solapadene occasionally; so I took 1 dose on W, 1 on R and 1 on Friday, none needed on Sat or Sun, but yesterday, had a killer headache and took 1 dose; took today off work to rest and so far, no need to take anything. I don't want to take any medication, but paracetamol alone does nothing for me; prior to pregnancy, I would take anti-migrane medication, but i figure that solapadene (sp) is better than the heavy duty stuff, and it's no good to the baby or me, if I can't eat, am sick from the headaches, etc., but I'm hoping that all is better....

what I don't understand is how the solapadene gets rid of the headache in 10-15 mins, but nothing else I do, massage, cold eye gel, etc., does anything...

sigh

I got given antibiotics yesterday for my kidney infection and I feel really bad about taking them too - I just hate medication and worry it could affect baby but like your mum said doctors wouldnt give us these if they weren't safe :) hugs xxx
