feeling ignored :(

Hiya I'm new here, my names Siobhan and I found out I was pregnant mid August. I'm now 12 weeks and I still havent had any midwife appointment nor scan appointment. I had to go to the doctors a few days ago because I still hadnt heard anything from a midwife so the receptionist left the midwife a note. I finally heard from her on Thursday and she said that she hadn't received anything information from the hospital yet thats why she hadn't gotten in touch so she decided to book an appointment with me for Monday but said that I had to try and call up the hospital to see if they can sort out getting me a scan. The midwife gave me a number to call which I called earlier today and got told that I had to call a different extension number on Monday.
I'm just starting to feel ignored by them as I'm the one having to do all the chasing up.
Also which makes me feel even worse my friend recently found out she was pregnant too and shes 5 weeks behind me and she already has her midwife appointment booked and her scan booked.
I just want my scan to be booked so that I can start to believe more that I am pregnant.

Find out who your friend's doctor is and make an appointment her! Sometimes people do slip through the cracks, but they should try to be more proactive given how pregnant you are already with no prenatal care.

I'm just really hoping that the midwife on Monday can try and sort it out for me as I feel like I'm going to be giving birth before I even have a scan lol. Its just making me feel down and like they don't care that I'm pregnant

You need to call the office and tell them exactly what you are telling us - maybe they'll get their stuff together then and get you taken care of.

i had to book both my doctors appointment and my midwife appointment and once id seen the midwife thats when i got my 12 week scan date.
keep calling them to get an appointment, sometimes you have to bug them to get what you need lol x

thats awfull!! when u see the midiwfe on mon tell her all this, u should have never been left this long! good thing is though ur 12 weeks, i cant waitt till im 12 weeks still 7 more to go feels like ages away and my first appointment with the midwife isnt untill im 8 and half weeks. hope u get on ok on monday xx

I am not as far along as you but my doctor's have been equally useless... They referred me to my local hospital a few weeks ago and said I should hear from a midwife within 2 weeks so after 2 weeks I called the hospital saying I hadn't heard anything yet. They looked on their system and said they had never received any referral for me!!!! GRRRR!! So I am back to square one but have decided to refer myself online to cut out the middle man, I'm gonna ring them again on Monday to check they have received that!

I would say just keep calling and pestering every day til they sort themselves out lol! Good luck xxx

I live in essex too and have found the maternity care not great. I've got hyperemesis and I've not been monitored at all, my midwife was supposed to send a form off for me and she didn't, she was supposed to refer me to a mental health thing and didn't. Whenever I've been to see her she just rushes me in and out. I've heard similar stories in the area. But you do need to kick up a fuss! You've not had your 8 week booking appointment or blood tests or anything! Not that it really matters but you are entitled to it!

I had similar trouble - there is a big chance I may have missed the 12 week scans/tests and the midwife and hospital were both being uber slow and lazy with booking my appointments - not good especially when this pregnancy came straight after a m/c @ 13weeks!!

Some of the lovely ladies on here told me to stand up for myself so I called up the doctor and hospital and let them know that I'm a worried pregnant lady and its best not to anger me lol

So I phoned a couple of days ago and have my midwife Monday and scan Tuesday.
Turns out the midwife has been booked since I first went to GP but no one was even going to tell me - Im willing to bet I would have got a call on Monday saying I didnt turn up to my app!!


Honestly, dont worry about offending anyone, remember that this isnt for you - its for your child.
While all the various staff were being pretty sarky before, now that Ive actually yelled at most of them they are being generally apologetic and kind!!

Think about it as if your child needs a scan, or a treatment of some sort.
If the doctors were treating your childs medical care this way how would you react?
Im willing to be there would be fire coming out of your ears by now! lol

Well I thought I'd come on here and let you all know that everything has finally been sorted out, I have my scan next monday and I can't wait it might start to feel abit more real now that I've got my scan date and even more real once I have my scan, thanks again for your comments and good luck with your pregnancies

Awesome - hope they step up and start paying attention

A you can see we also finally got our scan and m/w apps - I think they are just a bit slow on the uptake as they've already booked me another scan for next tuesday!!

Definitely get better once they realise u r in fact pregnant lol!!
