Help!

Wondered if anyone can help, we are having a rubbish few years trying to conceive and am feeling utterly let down by the nhs. Now I love the nhs, but I am reaching serious grumpsville and I am hoping for some advice from those who have had tests to establish fertility levels.

A wee but about us:

After 2 years of charting, peeing on ovulation sticks and lost blood results for pcos, we were referred to the infertility clinic at my local hospital in 2012. Roll on another 18 months, 7 rounds of chlomid, 1 successful laparoscopy (no pcos or endo), 1 ultrasound, 2 failed hysteroscopies due to an apparent cervical stenosis (now not thought to be an issue as they managed with a flexible scope to find I have a 1cm fibroid in January) and nowt happening. DH a-ok when SA undertaken in 2012 but he is thinking if going again too.

I have now asked for some checks to my fertility levels as I am surprised/worried not to have been tested about it since the lost blood result fiasco of 2011 and a beginning to think I may have some sort of hormone issue (possibly low egg count, short luteal phase post ovulation?). Would really appreciate any info you lovely ladies may have on this point.

Before I go for more blood tests (and before the next attempt at a hysteroscopy in May) I have also bought myself a pee-on-a-stick fertility test from babystart which I believe measures FSH levels. Has anyone used these tests and if so, when in your cycle should you use it? The instructions do not mention this bit, just says 'do it one week and repeat 7 dats later'. Can anyone tell me if fsh levels should be measured in the first week or two as I had it mind that this might be the best time to check.

Any advice most great fully received for one confused and sad little lady.

Baby dust to all xxx

:hugs: sorry you are in this crap hole like the rest of us!

I believe FSH should be tested on day 3 of your cycle.

I also think cd3 is your base level reading. When you have your blood tests done, ask for an AMH test if you haven't already. It will give you an idea of what your future fertility is (as far as eggs go) so you have some sort of idea of how aggressive you need to be with your treatments. Insist on an AMH as opposed to just an antral follicle count. Antral follicle count is done by ultrasound at the beginning of your cycle and counts the number of 'possible' follicles for that cycle (and ONLY that cycle). AMH will give you a better view of FUTURE cycles.

Good luck :)

Thank you both, I went ahead with the shop-bought one on cd3. Seems to be ok but will try again on d10.

I went for a blood test for the full fertility screen on cd4 (couldn't get in on a Sunday, cd3) and they are also testing for AMH - backs up what you mentioned pop chick - thanks for the advice though, I didn't know what it was :)

Not expecting the results for another week. Just hate this waiting game we're all in!
