Fetal versus gestational age

I'm getting myself confused by this ladies so I was hoping someone would clarify! I know when I ovulated as I was temping and using OPK's and this would put me at 5 weeks 5 days but the midwife (and all the tickers) seem to think Im around 7 weeks-I think this is harder to judge than most anyway because I was a late ovulator.

Anyway, I feel like my ticker is a fibber! when I go for my first scan (next Friday-eeek!) how will they date the age of bean? I'm confused!

They will also measure the baby during the ultrasound, which gives a more precise estimate of a due date.

They basically always add 2weeks on coz the calculations are based on an "average" cycle.

So yes, you bubs is 5 weeks but you are 7 weeks preggo.

Gestational age is VERY important and this is the point of the 12 week dating scan.

You are 2 weeks pregnant at ovulation -

So in my case I had 3 weeks between my LMP and my ovulation - it put me out by a week in my last pregnancy - had no end of hassles - the scan also didn't adjust to the right date it gave me a due date of the 15th .. my LO arrived bang on 38 weeks after I ovulated... on the 21st of the month...

So this time I took my LMP as 14 days before I ovulated...

If you include the 14 days prior to ovulation - does that make you 7 weeks.. or by your calculations 5... if it is 5.. I would tell the mw you got your LMP wrong -and adjust it like i did.. or wait till the scan.. it should get you closer!

Its all so confusing how you could be preggo, before you have even concieved haha I had this out with my doc as well. Kept saying no, your wrong!! then U/s proved they were right so I went on with it haha but I will keep it in mind when I am due and want bubs out.. haha can we just minus the 2 weekss!!! haha

Back from scan today and dated nine weeks-so thanks for your help ladies!

Glad everything was ok at your scan hon

I think when I have my 1st scan I will be put back a week because I also have three weeks between lmp and ov tigs (my ticker is lmp date!)
