HELLO LADIES,
SO ON THE 8TH I HAD GONE INTO FALSE LABOUR AND GOT SENT TO L&D!
MY DOCTOR REQUESTED THAT I HAVE A fFN TEST DONE AND IT HAD COME BACK NEGITIVE INSURING THAT I WOULDNT GO INTO TRUE LABOUR FOR TWO WEEKS. WELL ON MONDAY MY TWO WEEKS IS UP AND IM A LITTLE CONCERNED CAUSE I WILL BE 36 WEEKS THEN. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS TEST DONE AND HOW DID THINGS TURN OUIT FOR YOU. MORE CURIOUS THAN ANYTHING CUZ IM PRETTY SURE THAT MY BABY IS COMPLETELY DROPPED NOW AND I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON THE 23RD SO WE SHALL SEE WHAT MY DR SAYS THEN

Mine came back positive at 25 weeks and I am currently 31 + weeks, so the test isn't always correct. With my second, it came back positive at 31 weeks and I had him at 34weeks. If you are concerned about an early delivery, ask or beg!! so steriod shots to mature your baby's lungs. You get one dose then 24 hours later, you get another dose. But, it seems like you are further along than 34 weeks? If you are about to turn 36 weeks, you are in a safe zone anyway and wouldn't need the extra lung help (they won't usually give steroid shots after 34 weeks anyway)
Just relax and know 36 weeks is a almost full term - a good place for you and your baby.

Thanks im just worrying to much i htink! Lol im so ready for baby to be here i can sit for long beforeeverything starts to hurt!

i had the test done at 27 weeks, came back negative.. they re did it at 28 weeks, still negative.
baby is dropped, i've been 1 cm dialated since 27 weeks, and ill be 35 weeks tomorrow and still no baby!

doctor told me if it is negative, that is very reassuring (99% ish sure) that you will not go into labour .. if test is positive it does NOT mean you WILL go in to labour. so it's only accurate really if it's negative .. hope that made sense

They will not routinely give steroids for babys lung develeopement as these themselves can cause PPROM (waters going early) and send you into prem labour. My last son was born at 27 weeks after PPROM at 20.6. This pregnancy they won't give me steroids routinely due to the above and my consultant said that the FFN test can be very unreliable.

If a preemie is born at 27 weeks they have a 9 in 10 chance of survival (I know all the odds cause of my son - unfortunately mine was the other 1 in 10). At 36 weeks the prognosis is VERY good - please try not to worry and if you have any queries ring your midwife and hopefully she will be able to answer any questions and put your mind at rest.
