The past week Alex seems to fight me to get him on the boob, he will tip his head away and latch/unlatch himself a few times before going on properly> Its not that hes not hungry, he will still do this even 3-4 hours from the last feed.

Anyone elses babies do this? I wasnt expecting him to fight feeds at such a young age.

i remember having a period where every feed was like a fight. i'm sure it wasn't quite this early on though more about 6 weeks old. i was ready for giving in at thatpoint because i was getting distressed. during this period i ended up with a block duct whether thats why she was fighting or caused by her fighting i'm unsure. BUT ever since that ding dong BF has almost been a breeze, my daughter attached straight away.

now whether this is the case with you and alex i don't know i'm just saying what happened. i would keep perservering for the next day or 2 and see how it goes

My little girl had thrush and she got quite fussy and on/off with that so maybe check his tongue (don't believe anyone who says its just milky tongue as thats what i got fobbed off with) Also if he's colicky they can be agitated trying to feed. Final thing could be that your both still quite new to this breast feeding lark and need to relax and be calm before a feed- i certainly think in the early days i found handling my little girl and putting her to the breast a bit awkward-esp the R one for some reason, and she undoubtedly picked up on that. So get yourself nice and comfy and then maybe talk to him quietly-it might help-certainly won't hurt!! Aside from that i'm not sure but stick in there, its hard work but well worth it.

I think this is was people sometimes describe as fussing. I'd double check him for wind as that sometimes causes them confuse the tummy ache with hunger :)

Confusing atm to tell what he needs since he seems to be going through a growth spurt aswell :(
