So I just got back from my very first prenatal doctors appointment. Seemed pretty pointless and a waste of time to be honest.

All they did was have me pee in a cup to check if I was preg...and SURPRISE! I was  I feel like they did the exact same thing I did...they just dipped the test in the pee instead of me just peeing on the stick lol.

Well they did the normal check up stuff like weight and such. [which I was like 8lbs heavier than I normally am....I did NOT like seeing that lol]

But outside that he just basically looked at his phone and put my last period in an app on his phone to get my due date. I thought it was june 11th after putting it in programs on the computer and he said june 10th so either way pretty close to the same.

I just feel like it was a waste of time lol. He said my next check up they'd be doing blood work and such  I just figured they'd do that today.

Then he told me I won't get an ultasound until 20 weeks which is a HUGE bummer. I keep seeing all these threads seeing a heart beat and I want to see that. :(

The guy I saw today isn't going to be my doctor, they just messed up the schedule yesterday and booked my first appointment on the wrong week and told me something different so I didn't have much choice. I see my doctor on the 14th which is when they're doing the blood tests and such.

Is it normal not to have an ultrasound until 20w?

Then he wants to send me to a nose specialist since I'm having bloody noses all the time. I just thought it was a normal thing with pregnancy...

I'm not sure what to think. I feel I went in less confused than I am now. :dohh:

He sounds lame tbh! Bloody nose Im not sure i woke up each day with blood in my nose last pg but not so early.

As for ultraround it depends where you live, here in the UK the standard is 12 then 20 weeks.. I would try and see someone else, or hope you get someone else for the next appt but tbh rubbish as they round there just isn't that much to be done for ages yet!

Im in the states and here they do a dating scan with vaginal ultrasound to see the baby and find the due date around 8 weeks then at 19 weeks you get the other ultrasound.

Where I live unless there is a problem with dates or bleeding/bad cramping they don't do an ultrasound until 20 weeks. It's the norm here. First doctors appointments are usually pretty lame. If it wasn't your regular doctor that may be why they want to wait on the bloodwork. For me things don't really get good at the doctors until 12 weeks when they start doing the heart beat at the appointment.

Sorry it was such a disappointment.

My next appointment is the 14th hopefully I'll be less confused then

Same here in Spain with the dating scan, then abdominal at 12wks, think the next one is 16 or 20wks. They definitely scan much more regularly than in the UK.
