i have been ttc for 2 years and 5 months (minus three months off that for my husbands basic training) and i have my First GP appointment tomorrow to get a referral to the fertility specialist...here's my question..
we have tried a MILLION home remidies of sorts...grapefruit juice, EPO, vitex, preseed, cough medicines, zinc, maca root, probiotics, and most recently soy isoflavones...
do you think it would be better to just leave out all the junk and just leave it at "im not Pregnant after all this time" or should i tell the 100% truth even if i know what they are going to say about it all....

i really dont think i can take a lecture on how none of these things work and how im stupid for trying them, but i also feel like i need to be honest to get the best results....keep in mind i have never met my new GP before...i dont even know if it is a man or a woman so i have no idea how they will react at all...

Hmm, I think you'll have to decide on the spot, if you don't know your doctor. Perhaps, bring ONE thing up, like I don't know, what's the most innocent, grapefruit juice, probiotics, see the reaction. If he/she snaps right back with placebo effect and stuff, then just push the line about 2 and a half years of trying. You basically just need that referral.

    Hi

Just wanted to say good luck at the docs hun :hugs: OH and I are off to our docs tonight to get the ball rolling on tests. We've now been ttc 12 months and had a year of NTNP before that. I'm 36 and OH is 41 so time is of the essence now x

I would go with the "don't ask don't tell" policy myself. If the doctor asks if you've tried anything, then be honest. That, or go by feel when you get there. You'll probably get a good idea of how the doctor will react.

I'm making an appointment if AF shows this month, so let me know how it goes. I have NO idea what to expect, and don't even have a doctor here, so sounds like we'll be in much the same boat not knowing the doctor before the appointment. I've also been "TTC" for 2 1/2 years since getting married minus 6 months we were in other countries, though for most of it not really TTC but certainly NOT preventing either.

I would just tell them how long you have ben trying to conceive they didnt ask me what I have tried etc. I just said I take a multi vitamin, say how long you have been trying then my GP refferred me that day, depending on the waiting list you should get you appointment pretty soon. It there in which they go into more detail with you- like aving tests done and asking about your past. Apart from that they are there to help you and advice you on what to do, not to lecture you on what you have or have not done. Good luck x

Don't worry about telling them about all of that. Just let them know how long you have been trying and leave it at that. Your doctor will probably ask how often you :sex:. The general rule of thumb is every other day. If your doc is anything like mine he/she will then do some test. Blood work for you and a semen count for your OH. After the results are back, they will then go from there.

After TTC for 3 years and nothing being wrong with me nor DH, my doc just decided to put us on Clomid. After one month on it, we are pregnant.
