Hiya lovely ladies, I have just had a call from the hospital and have an appointment booked for Thursday, what happens and did you take you oh x

You fill in a lot of paperwork! you give them a urine sample. They weigh you and work out your BMI. They ask you a lot of questions about your medical history. They fill in forms for the hospital to arrange your scans.
they talk to you about screening test on offer and what they involve.
they tell you all the obvious stuff about smoking drinking and drugs and diet.

There is no need to take your partner as it is really boring but there is no reason not to take him if he is interested. If he isn't bothered he should save the time off for the 12 week scan as you will definitely want him there.

I took my OH with me - its actually easier cos they ask questions about both of your family histories (just about immediate family stuff - diabetes, heart conditions etc).

They talked about how I'd been, checked my weight and height, blood pressure, urine sample. They talked about what to expect the first trimester and at the first scan, what you shouldn't eat, about local aquanatal classes, just general stuff really. I could ask questions as we went along. It took about an hour or so. xx

mine was at my normal doctors surgery with midwife was just height weight bmi given an edd urine sample blood tests then medical history was over within half an hour didnt take oh

Thanks ladies makes me feel a bit better, I just texted oh to say the midwife had rung and they had an appointment on Thursday and he was disappointed as he is working away from home this week, bless him he is very hood and is so excited, he is dying to paint the nursery already ! x

lol bless u wait till scans my oh gets so excited about the ones we have had

My booking appointment seems to be different to everyone elses, the midwife actually came around to my house and filled in the paperwork. I next see them at 10 weeks to have my bloods taken and urine sample.

For the actual paperwork you just need to be aware of your OHs family history and any abnormalities when he was born. The rest is about you- it took about half an hour for the paperwork.

Was nice to see the midwife so early and ask her questions i had so i suggest you write down any you have so you don't forget them when you get their.
