First IUI

Im due back at my FS in September and she said at that point she will be recommending iui. I just wondered if you know how long i will have to wait from then? We are in the unexplained catagory x

How long you'll have to wait from your appointment to do IUI? You can start an IUI the first cycle you're ready. I had to wait for cycle day 1 to roll around but I was doing blood monitoring and scans. Does that help any?

yeah that helps thanks, i just wondered if they were going to say come back in 3 months or so! Hope they start me asap x

hi Chloe1;5680551

Me and my dh is also unexplained infertility and went through 6 cycles of 50mg clomid although i ovulate every month by myself. The 6 cycles didn't work for us and they put us ahead for IUI. I had my first IUI + CLOMID 15 days ago and will be testing tomorrow to see if it worked.

They usually monitor you to see how many follies you produced and if it's big enough to go ahead with IUI. I had to take an ovidrill shot 36 hours before the process to make sure i ovulate on the day of IUI.

Good luck

hiya chloe
we're unexplained too, i'm doing 3 natural cycles before i go back on clomid, hopefully having my 1st iui on friday. I'm not having any monitoring as i'm not on any meds, but tbh nearly every PCT is different

good luck

good luck to you too sterretjie - hope u get your bfp!!

Glad that helps. They shouldn't make you wait at all. I ended up going to a clinic a month ahead of time so I had to wait but I think you should be able to get right to it. Don't see any reason why they would make you wait. Good luck!

good luck sterretjie, hope this is it for you

Thank you all so much for your replies xx

Thanks Chloe

I did the test and it came back bfn:nope:. I was so emosional yesterday at work that they send me home. i just couldn't stop crying.

I still haven't had my af and my temp is still 98.50 but the nurse seems to think it's the trigger shot they gave me for IUI and the progesterone i had to use after that makes my hormones go crazy

Hope you get a bfp soon :flower:

really sorry to hear that :nope: really hope you get your bfp soon. Its such an emotional journey i honestly never thought it would be this difficult x

Sorry to hear about the bfn sterretjie. I'm hoping that maybe the story changed for you?

I'm having the first tracking scan this afternoon (CD8). For those of you that have started their first IUI's this month - how many scans did you have and how often? What advice did they give you about BD'ing in the run up to the actual IUI?

Hi Cath

i had 2 scans before IUI. The last scan was just before the IUI to make sure that the follies were a good size. Are you only doing IUI or are you using Clomid as well or injections?

I think the next two IUI's that's lined up for me will be injections & IUI. I've never done the injections so i hope this will help.

All advice that i can give you is to stay relaxed and not lift heavy objects during the time. that was the advice that was given to me.

Good luck for your IUI!!

I'll only have my next IUI next month as i have to have a normal period before the next IUI.

Have a lovely weekend xx

I had two scans. One on CD2 to make sure I didn't have cysts and the other on CD15 right before my IUIs. I'm on a 30 day cycle.

good luck!!
Mine were a little painful with the cramps afterward. I was so glad to be done with it!

Thanks all for your replies. Had my scan today (CD8) and was quite suprised to be told that i would give myself an injection on saturday night with IUI on Monday - i thought i would just wait for the positive OPK (i'm just taking Clomid to stimulate ovulation - not anything else). All proceeding a bit faster that i was expecting but i suppose that's a good thing.

Good luck everyone who's just had their IUI.

Cath

The girls who have has iui have you had a HSG? I had one in January and i found that very painful. Just wondered if i should expect the same thing

Hi Chloe,

Had my first IUI this morning - i would call it uncomfortable rather than painful - a bit like a smear test but takes a bit longer (or it did for me as i didn't have a full enough bladder so my womb was at a funny angle apparently. Would have helped if i'd known i was supposed to have a full bladder beforehand!). I had an HSG last year and found that very painful, like the world's worst period pain. So no, i would say that IUI is not anything like as painful as the HSG although everyone is different!

and so the 2WW begins.....
