I wondered if anyone could fill me in on what to expect on our first appointment??

We have been tooing and throwing from the spencer hospital, margate in kent over the last year doing tests, samples and also had a laparoscopy. We have FINALLY just had our referral go thru and our first appointment with the IVF specialist is on 18th December!! Super excited!!

What should be expect??

Thanks

Hello! Our ivf consult with the doctor was pretty quick. He went through options for ivf, the procedure he suggested for us, the time it will take, medicines and side effects. And then he also went through the risks from it all, my chances of having risks occur and how to minimise them.

Then we were scheduled in for an information session. There was around five couples, 2 nurses. They went through the whole procedure in detail with what to expect etc. and the couples could ask questions.

Then after that we had a one on one session with two nurses who went through the medicines, how to administer them, how much to give etc.

That's for in Australia so it may be different whee you are. Now is CD1 for me. I go to collect my meds today and start them tomorrow.

Good luck on your journey :)

Hi!

Firstly congratulations on your 1st App!!

At our 1st app we were shown the clinic, they worked out our BMIs and explained the timescale to starting treatment which was around 1 yr at that time. They went through the different procedures they offer IVF/ICSI and which they thought would be best for us and thats about it... hope that helps  x

My first appointment with the consultant (after all the blood tests and paper work etc)
Was in internal scan to check all is ok (he took screen shots of ovaries womb uterus etc)
He afterwards told us it would deffo be icsi and my ovaries look fine, he explained the procedure and we had to wait for my next cycle start for me to have day 2-5 bloods and hubs to have sperm freeze and it went from there.
