Another thread got me thinking- I have NO clue what my truly "first memory" is... I remember living in Cali with my family (we moved when I was 6yrs to Oregon)- so I'm guessing I was maybe 4-5yrs old... cause I know my brother was around in all of them, and I was 2.5yrs old when he was born. I have no real memories of him as a baby- other than trying to feed him a cherry tomato in his high chair! :haha:

My Mom always swore she had memories from when she was maybe 2-3yrs old... and I've talked to people who believe they remember being a baby!!! Which, seems bit far fetched to me! But then again- maybe I just have a bad memory! :dohh:

My LO is SO fun these days- it kinds sucks to think she won't have any memories of these early years (unless she's lucky!). But I think of the things we want to do as she grows- when she will remember things more... I know how precious these years are- of course- and I'll always remember them and have pics/videos to share with her as she grows- good thing for technology! hehe

IDK. Just a mommy rambling... haha. Anyone remember things that far back? Like 1-3 yrs old and have it confirmed?

My youngest memory is when I was 2. I was climbing up a flight of concrete stairs with a snow globe and I turned around and fell down the entire flight. I remember the garage door to my right and the playroom to my left. I remember the snow globe shattering all over the black and white tile. I remember my mom rushing down the stairs and breast feeding me to console me and then I black out.

My parents have confirmed the details of this memory. :flow:

I was two in my first memory. I remember I didn't want to go to bed, but my mom made me and I climbed out of my crib and fell on my head. I remember hitting the floor and the sound of my mother running up the stairs to get me. I'm not sure if this is an actual memory or one I've put together from the stories. I've confirmed most of the details with my mother, but I got the placement of the crib wrong.

I can remember a few traumatic events from preschool age but I'm not entirely sure what age I was but it was definitely before I started school as we lived in another house.
1. putting my finger in a whisk when helping to bake
2. Slipping on a mopped kitchen floor and banging my head sooooo hard
3. Being badly sunburnt I had big bits of skin peeling off my shoulder and my mother was advised by my grandmother to put cooking oil on it WTF
4. Spilling a boiling hot drink on my stomach and going to hosp
5. Loosing my snoopy dog on a trip into town - I was inconsolable

I've also been told about lots of other horrific accidents that happened to me but I don't remember them! Hmmm maybe I was accident prone!

My first memory was sitting on the couch in front of the window with my dad eating Pringles and watching my mom drive up. This was at a house we were renting, and we moved into our family home when I was 18 months, so it was some time before then. I actually asked my dad within the last year if he remembered eating Pringles with me at the old house and he did, which I was very excited about since neither one of us had ever spoken about it before.

I think I'm quite unusual in that my earliest memory is very early. For a long time I had a memory of sitting in a buggy being pushed down an unmade bumpy road to the doctors. When I finally asked my mum about it she was shocked as we stopped going to that doctors surgery when I was just 14 months old, just before my sister was born. Apparently we used to park on the unmade road, which was paved over at around the same time that we stopped using it. I also remember sitting I between my mum and dad in bed, being sick into a bowl. My mum said that I only had one sickness bug as a child and that I was only 18 months at the time. I have memories of our dog that died before I turned two, particularly holding its lead and him pulling me over outside my grandma's house.

I have memories of preschool age so 3/4 remember holding onto a my dads legs arguing with a friend over who's dad it was, it was mine!

My first memories are from when I was about two. I remember going to get department store photographs done at that age (back when they used to do this! I'm only 30, but wow times have changed), I also remember sort of the time before that we also had department store photos taken - I would have been about 18 months. It's weird as I remember remembering it when I was two, but not so much the actual memory. I remember the potty we had when toilet training when I was two, it was yellow. I remember falling off my trike into a prickly pear cactus, hahaha, when I was about 3, and I remember my dad picking the spikes out of my back with tweezers! I have a few more less specific memories, but they are definitely there. My parents also kept lots of our toys and books from childhood and when prompted by these objects I remember playing with them and reading them when I was a toddler, but wouldn't have remembered this unprompted.

ETA: My OH swears he has memories of a house they moved from before he was 18 months too.

I have a few early ones but one in particular my Mom can verify is when I was 3. My brother and I were in the bathtub and she got him out first to tend to the stitches he'd had for his hernia operation. She had laid him on the bath mat to put cream on it or something. He'd had it when he was 2, so that made me 3 at the time.

My first memory as far as I can tell is of when I was a bit over 2 and a half, I was in the bath and my mum was sitting on the loo seat talking to me and read me a postcard from my dad, who was in Peru helping my Aunt and Uncle bring my adopted cousin home.

Although I also remember falling down the stairs before I was 2, it seems that's a common one! I had nightmares for years about the stairs in my Gran's house though (where I fell) so I'm not sure if I remember it consciously or just remember the dream, I think my mum filled in the memory when I told her about the dream when I was older.

I CLEARLY remember my brother being born when I was 3 and 2 months, well I distinctly remember the moment I was told. I was up early at my Gran's house, we were playing a board game called 'apple picking', she got a telephone call and because it was so early she told me she guessed I might have a baby brother or sister! I remember my mum asked us to bring her ready salted crisps! And also we wrapped some little rose shaped soaps in a hanky to give to her as a present. I remember mum and dad showing me my brother and saying he'd bought me a present. My mum reminded me that my response was "he can't have bought it, he's a baby!" :haha: I remember everything from that morning!

I really would love to think Micah would remember some of the fun we have now but i guess it's unlikely.

I do think people sometimes fill in the blanks. My 'first' memory (not entirely sure which order some of them are in) is of me being REALLY told off, I can't remember why but I remember screaming and crying to be let out of my bedroom while my Dad held the door shut. I would've been 2 or 3, I couldn't say how much of it is true although my mum seems to think it's fairly accurate. My brother was totally convinced for absolutely ages that he remembered being born :haha:

Mines from when I was 3. We were at my grandparents house before going on holiday abroad and I remember looking out the window and the colour of their curtains. I still see the image of looking out on the street and the lights. I also remember their bathroom. I can recall events from the holiday too.

I have one faint memory of being put into my baby swing and swinging in it while my mother ate at the table and I have one memory of getting my butt whooped because I decided to poop in my diaper instead of the toilet during toilet training.

Other than those two... I wouldn't say my memory becomes clear till closer to 3 where I remember a lot more, first movie, birthday parties, toys, daily routines, preschool and etc.

Thanks for sharing ladies- it's for sure interesting that so many of you remember events from 2 and under! Gonna be something I'll have to ask LO about some day- I did forget that I have a memory of my brother turning on the stove, and I climbed up to turn it off and burnt my hand-- and my Mom running it under water... but I never even confirmed that with her. So who knows. I can imagine the more "traumatic" events might stick in our memory banks more!

I have memories from when I was 2 which were confirmed by my parents. I only have two distinct memories from that age though and both are of the things I enjoyed most at that age.

I've got loads of really early memories going back to when I was probably under 2. None of them are specific or traumatic either so its unlikely I've made them up based of other people's stories. I can remember being in my cot and my sister singing to me, sitting in my high chair, being in my pram that had a seat for my older sister to sit on top of - I told my mum about that memory and told her my sister had been wearing a kilt, to which my mum said actually the seat itself was tartan.

I think it helped that we moved house a lot when we were kids because of my dad's job so I know that when a memory pops into my head of a certain place, I can easily work out the age I must have been when it happened. I have loads of memories from one house in particular that we moved out of when I was just 3

My earliest memory is of me spinning a rattle around and round on the kitchen floor. I think I would have been around 2-3 years old. It is great to think that Holly could be making memories at the moment!

I remember my brother being born when I was 3. We went to the hospital to see him and I remember walking over grass holding my dad's hand. I also recall my dad looking after us while my mum was in hospital. He gave me peas which I didn't like so threw on the floor and blamed it on the dog.

I don't have any earlier memories than 3 I don't think.
