First Midwife appointment - confused!!

Hi all, well, I had my first appointment with the midwife today, we filled in all the forms etc and she was lovely.

But, as I kind of expected, she put me at 7 weeks 4 days pregnant when online calculators say only 5 weeks 4 days!!

I have a 42 day cycle usually and my LMP was 5th June. So in effect, she's right, but so are the calculators... which do I go with?!

OH bought me a pregnancy journal and I want to start filling it in, but I can't because I don't know how pregnant I am yet!! Has anyone ever been in the same situation? What happened at the 12 week scan? Were you actually 12 week size or only 10?! ARGH!!

In some ways, I'm happy if I'm 7 weeks already 'cos it brings that scan closer than before, but then again... I just don't know what to believe now!!

i was the same! u wont really know until ur scan! i had an irregular cycle when conceived but cos of last period i was put further along, when i went for scan i was put back nearly 2 weeks.

they have probably put u at 7 weeks on a 28 day cycle length x

Because of your very long cycle, probably the only way they are going to accurately date you is from your first ultrasound. Until then it's your word against theirs!

My cycle is long too (36 days or so) but i think i ovulated on june 18th so i go by my calculations until proven otherwise.

Ah well, I shouldn't complain, at least I'll get to see baby earlier than I expected! Perhaps I'll take a leaf out of your book Laurenmomma and have tickers for both eventualities! lol

Trust your body. With my first, Brinlee, I knew I wasn't as far along as my calculated due date was. It was set at June 20th 2010 but when I finally got an ultrasound at "18" weeks my due date was moved to July 1st 2010. Ironically Brinlee came on the 18th of June but she was pasted in vernix, super waxy cream colored stuff, and she had a little gruntiness for about 2 days which indicates around 37 weeks. To sum it up. Your baby is going to come when she/he comes. Don't worry.

Thanks JayDanny (and for the friend request ) I've just amended my signature, but I'm still sure I'm actually around 5 weeks. Still, as you say, it makes no major difference. I'm just keen to keep track of how big baby is and what baby looks like at each stage.

At long as he/she is happy and healthy and born sometime in March I can't complain!

see i had a 31 day cycle for my last 2 LMP, my due date ranges from 17th-21st March, it's only 4 days different, but it can make a change from weeks i guess?

i'm sure you'll know when you have your scan hun. And lucky you getting to see baby sooner!!!! xxxx
