First midwife appointment in 2 weeks

So I have my first appointment with the midwife on the 29th Nov and I think it's just a sort of consultation, am I right? What happens at this first appointment? According to a friend of mine who is also expecting the first scan is 2 weeks after this appointment when your 12 weeks is this true? Thanks ladies x x x

My first midwives appointment was just my full medical history, my husbands medical history and as much family history as possible. She took my weight and height. We chatted and got to know each other a bit. Do to the fact i have had two scans already and have my third book through my specialist my scan that will be ordered by the midwife is for 20 weeks.

I've had no scans at all yet, I've not even heard the heartbeat I thought I'd get to hear the heartbeat at this first appointment lol I'm so inpatient I just want to be able to see or hear my baby so I know he's ok :/ thanks for the reply x x x
