First person you told

Just for fun - who was the first person other than your partner, that you told you were pregnant and and when?

Apart from my husband who found out straight away with me when we saw the pregnancy test, I called my mum up about half an hour later and then told a co-worker (who I trust and am close with) later that day (I found out on a weekday and had to tell someone!).

x

after my oh I told my mum about 10 mins after taking the test

I was too nervous to take the pregnancy test with my husband there in fear we'd be let down together! I'd have rather been let down alone. :p So I waited 'til he went to work and took it.. immediately positive and I then regretted not taking it when he was there because I had to wait 6 hours and contain my excitement alone!
The first person I told after him was my sister. I'm just very close to her and wanted her opinion on when to tell my parents. To be honest, I had no clue how they'd take it. To my surprise, well, although my mom looked quite baffled for the first seconds after telling her! She's cool about it now though. :)

The first person I told after my OH was my nephew but as he was only 1 month old at the time I don't think he really counts. I told my sister that I thought I might be but my mum was the first person I told after my BFP, I got her out of bed at half 7 on a Tuesday morning as we were about to drive to Scotland for the week and I didn't want to tell her over the phone.

My GP! Unfortunately my immediately family live in another country and I still haven't told them yet, I'm waiting till I see them face to face in Aug. I can't wait!!

I did the same thing! I had gotten far too many months of negatives to believe it would be positive so I didn't even tell OH I was testing. He teaches at night so I waited until he was gone and tested. I was shocked when it came up two lines and just sat on the bathroom floor a good half hour so excited, then realized I had to wait five hours for him to come home to tell him! So I went out and bought a couple baby things and gave them in a bag to him when he got home. But we didn't tell anyone else for two weeks when I told two coworkers, then no one else until 14 weeks. I only told the coworkers because I was so sick and wanted help covering it up! Then we told best friends, and then family. Parents were basically the last to know.

We took the test together then he called his mom and I called mine!! It was sweet.. I took a little longer to tell my dad.. I have no idea why.. we are married adults.. just was harder to tell him. I then told my best friends within the week. I have no idea how people can't wait until the end of the first trimester to tell people. I am weak I had to get the news out

How funny! :) I wish I had done something special like buying baby things as you did but I was so excited and in disbelief that I couldn't think quite straight. :p When he got home he pretty much knew immediately because of my face! He had suspected it anyway as I was already 6-7 weeks along at that time and showed symptoms.

I found out on the way to work - at a railway station - I suddenly thought that I was a bit late so went into a chemist bought a couple of tests and took them in the public loos (how romantic) - took the test and that was it the BFP. I walked from station to tube station and was grinning from ear to ear thinking how should i tell hubby. We have no secrets and tell eachother everything. I just couldn't go through the day with me knowing and him not knowing. So once i got to my destination I called him on my mobile outside. He knew straight away. Got home that night and he bought me a massive bouquet of flowers and basically cooked anything i wanted. We then arranged to see my mum and dad a couple of nights later for a meal and told them then the next day we drove down to his parents and told them. They were all really shocked but in a nice way. The four of them said that because we bought a sports car (2 seater porsche) they presumed that we weren't actively trying ....... to a point we wasn't we just wanted nature to take its course. After that we told siblings/best friends at 6 weeks along with trusted colleagues and at 12 weeks announced it to all my colleagues and other friends. There are still people we haven't announced it to but everyone will get to know about it once bubba is born xxxxxx

I texted my best friend straight away after finding out! It would have felt weird him not knowing!

Beca

Well after dashing out of the bathroom holding the still loading the digi, which flashed up 'pregnant' still loading the conception indicator to my husband, both shaking like a leaf at had been only 6 weeks since we lost our baby through mc, and no period. i phoned my mum, we all had a good cry (of happiness and worry!) x

We decided early on that we weren't going to tell anyone until the second trimester. We wound up breaking that rule the night we found out by telling my husband's best friend. That friend is expecting to become a dad (tomorrow!) so I think it was good for my husband to talk to him about it because it helped him calm down a lot.

I put my best friend down, but i actually can't remember if it was her or my mom  dang preggo/mommy brain :haha:

The staff nurse on the HV team who did LO's 12 month check the day I got my BFP. We were discussing LO BFing and my plans with weaning ect, so it was relevant.

With both pregnancies it's been friends. When pg with my first, I went off to work and told my colleague/friend. She thought I was insane for telling her so soon, but we were flying long haul 3 days later and I needed the information on what I could/couldn't do during pregnancy, and she was sort of an ally, since she was also pregnant at the time.

With this pregnancy a friend knew we were TTC, and each month I would tell her when I had a BFN, so she was sort of in the journey with me. I told her via text about 10 mins after I got my BFP :)
