Just curious at what age your LOs said their first words and how their speech is now at their current age - just out of curiousity :flower:

Ashley said his first word at 13 months and he's now got about 21 words.

Tom could say dada and ca for cat by 12 monthsand that was it for ages. He then slowly gained words from 16-21 months and had about 20 words by then. His language then took off at 21 months and by 24 months he had 100+ words and was saying 4 word sentences.

At 3 1/2 his spoken language is very clear and fluent and there is no difference between him and his friend's who were talking clearly much earlier than him.

Esther said her first word at 16 months (Daddy). She's nearly 4 and still only has about 50 or so words! She does have a developmental delay though lol

My son didn't say his first words until around 18 months. But by 2 he has way above the 50 words they reckoned he should of had-I think we counted around 200. He was putting together very clear 3 word sentences. He could repeat any word that we asked him to regardless of how many sylabols it had. We could hold proper little conversations with him at 2.

Georgia was saying mum-mum by 13 months and now she will try to repeat everything to ask her to say but you can clearly hear her saying:

Look
Book
Mummy
Daddy
Tye
Kaydeeeeee(she likes to make the dee sound of her sisters name last forever!)
Poo Poo
Wee Wee
Bum
Foo Foo (this is what we call girly bits, she recently has developed the habit of grabbing at it when shes nappy free and i have to tell her to stop grabbing her foo foo)
Dog
Puss (picked this up of her auntie hannah as she calls her cat puss puss lol)
Snot
Juice
Out
There
Granma (grandma)
Ganpa (grandpa)
Hannan (hannah - her auntie)
One, Two, Three, Four, Five (prompted, she doesn't quite grasp the idea of putting them in order yet)
yes
no

edited to add: Hiya, bye bye, wuv ooo (love you) issy (kissy) all gone, isps (crisps)

and even though she doesnt get the words she has grasped the idea of the tune of Bob the Builder! she sings 'Bob bab bab ab, yeah yeah yeah' to the tune of the song its so adorable!

Quinn said her first word at 9 months (duck) and now at 14 months, she has about 20 recognisable words.

Omar had his 1st word at 8 months, at 18 months he was talking in short sentences using two languages & now he talks like an adult using both languages xx

Earl said his first word around 11m and it was Dadda. He didn't say much for a while but imitated sounds and things occasionally. Around 14-15 months he exploded and suddenly had about 15-20 words overnight lol. Earl is now 3.5 and is a proper mini-adult lol. His descriptions and explanations are brilliant and everything has the qualifier 'actually' somewhere in there. 'Mummy, this dinner is actually very nice' - love you too son! :haha:

Eddy is infrequently saying 'Dadda' and 'hiya' and the other day imitated me saying 'moo' but he's very communicative in his body language so I'm not expecting him to have that same explosion. We will see.

Sophie said her first words at 10 months corrected - cat and mum-mum. When she was 19 months corrected, she had 50 words at her neonatal checkup and two weeks after that we counted 200 then we lost count

Now she is completely fluent and talks like an adult. xx

I don't remember when Lucas said his first word  I think it was around 9 months? I'm fecked if I know what it was though.
He talks like any adult now. Though he often forgets what he's about to say right before he says it and just comes out with a string of babbling, it's adorable

Earl does this....only he'll just talk for the sake of talking which is funny when he really doesn't have an idea what to say.

'Mummy, I've got a question for you.'
'Ok sweetheart, what is it?'
'Well.......(long pause).........are birds black?'
'Some are.....they come in lots of different colours.'
'Oh..........(another long pause)'

:haha::haha::haha:

Fin said his first word (cat) a little over 1 year, can't remember exactly. Then nothing until we went on holiday at 18 months, when he added about 10 words in the 1 week we were away. Since then, it has just been a constant explosion. I really couldn't count his vocabulary, there are so many words. He regularly strings together 10-15 words (like "mummy play with baby Dexter and then daddy can come outside with Finlay").

Maria said her first word "äiti" sometime around a year old but she only said it a handful of times and then stopped speaking until about 18/19 months when she started saying "ball"
She's 28 months now and I lost count of how many words a long time ago but hundreds at least and she can speak in 5-6+ word sentences (like "first eat weetabix then baby clementine" actually sentences using "first.....then...." are quite a favourite with her!), mostly in Finnish but she is starting to speak some English now as well, usually combining both languages in the same sentence which is hilarious :haha:

Ivy was a late talker, she only really started saying proper words a few months before her second birthday. Now she is 3 in a month and her speech is amazing, I don't know if it's advanced or anything but she talks constantly and can talk about some pretty abstract concepts!

My LO's first word was "baby" at 9 months and now at 12 months she can say around 15 words that she intersperses with a lot of jabbering and angry hand gestures :haha:

Lucas had his first word at roughly ten months...ball...that was all he said for about two
Months then gradually he gained more. Now at 3 and a half he speaks like an adult and Struggles to stay quiet x

Megans first words ( besides the mama, dada, hi, bye which were all in context before this) was book. I think it was 8-9 months. At 11 months she finished a bottle, sat up on my lap and said " bottle all gone, night night" while holding her bottle and then looked at her crib. She said things like bye daddy and more juice at 12 months. She had over 300 words at 18 months. I don't remember exactly when or how many without looking it up. She is 3 1/2 now and talks constantly using full sentences using big words.

Jordans first word ( besides mama, dada, hi) was either Megan or all-done. Ball, diaper, bottle were around the same time as well. 9-10 months? I'd have to look it up as well. She stopped concentrating on words for a bit to finally start to crawl, cruise, etc. She is 14 months and hasn't taken a step yet unaided. Didn't regularly crawl til 13 months. Anyway... Her words are picking up again. She says mama, dada, Megan, ( which sounds like megnan, all done, blankie, night-night, kisses, shirt, chicken, milk, cheese, watermelon,, duck, ball, quack, neigh, moo, tweet, whats that, what's this while pointing, dirty, no, baby, hi, bye, book, diaper, bottle, up.

Megan was saying more by 14 months than Jordan is. Megan was also ahead of jordan by a month in most physical things. Jordan was waving, clapping, and pointing before Megan was. Its fascinating to me as a mom to see how they are alike in some ways, And other ways very different. Megan had our undivided attention, jordan doesn't. Jordan also has a hard time getting a word in when Megan is around. :haha:

Thanks for this thread. :) Lilly can only say hi, mama, and daddy, all in context but doesn't say anything else!
