Hello Lovely Mommy's!!

I was wondering what the youngest age was that you have flown with your LO? My husband is a Marine and my due Date is Dec 25th and we are being trasferred to another state Jan 3rd. I'm really worried about flying with the baby and just wanted to see how young your LO was and your experience...was it good, easy, hard, terrible? Also any tips to make it easier!

Thanks so much!!! :flow:

hi hun, i flew with my bub when he was 2 and a half months and he was so good. he slept on take off lol.
give him a bottle or dummy to suck on at takeoff and landing so they dont notice their ears popping and they should be fine.
good luck :hugs:

by my calcs you 'could' be 10 days over at that point, or do you have an induction date?

i dont know what the rules for flying that late in pregnancy are ,

if bubs is here then he/she will only be a few weeks at most so id imagine that flying will be easy as LO will sleep most of the time

good luck x x

They won't let me go past my due date cause they think its a big baby. So by the 25th or before. So at the very least baby will be 9ish days I think.

how long is the flight?

good luck with the birth and the move hun, never know you may have an xmas day buba xx

Gosh I think its 4 hours? We fly commercial airline to the state...then have to take a small plane into the area I believe which of course makes me 10 kinds of nervous as I hate airplanes as it is lol. We only have to go for 4 months so we will have to fly home with a 4 month old. Lots of traveling for a little baby. Not to mention living in a hotel for 4 months lol but thats another story.

Thank you! We might have our little Christmas present!

My first experience was much the same as tigers except he was older - more like 1 and 1/2....he fell asleep on take off and slept most of the way there - 4 hour flight...we've taken him away two more times since and on both occassions same thing...drops off on take off and actually fell asleep again on landing last time Lol

so yeah take a bottle (or if your breastfeeding even handier I suppose Lol) and if your using a dummy they are brilliant for avoiding sore ears on landing/take off but again if your feeding at these times I suppose it does the same thing...

From the sounds of things your LO will be pretty young when your going on your trip, and they sleep alot then anyway so hopefully you wont have much trouble....

For us the other essentials were his blanket for when it got cool in the plane, a little travel pillow for babies we bought on our first trip out at the airport lovely and soft and great for them to lie back on to sleep and a toy of some sort to entertain them when/if they do become cross

Hope something there helps !! : )

Are babies allowed on flights that young.. just I know easyjet don't let you on with a baby under 14 days old :) xx

Gosh, I don't know! I will have to call and ask, I'm not sure. I can put it off for up to a week before joining my husband if I have to but might have to pay extra to change the tickets. I will def call and ask now!

I also heard that a baby has to be 2 weeks old to fly, but remember that you need to organise a passport for your LO, and that can only be done once the birth has been registered and you have the birth certificate, so international flights might be hard to arrange.

I flew when my LO was 8 weeks old, and it was so smooth I could hardly believe our luck. My advice is to give them a bottle (be it milk or water) as you take off, because it will help with the air pressure affecting their ears. My LO slept the whole journey (3.5 hours) each way. It certainly makes it easier to have someone fly with you, so you're not alone with your LO when it comes to packing up the buggy at the gate, sorting out feeds etc. Oh, and a friend advised me to take a carrier, for when you land and you have yet to collect your buggy from the belts. When we arrived in Gatwick, it took about 40 mins to get the luggage back, so the carrier proved to be a lifesaver! And take a blanket for the flight, because the air con can make LO quite chilly. On our flights, they didn't have blankets available, so it was a good thing we brought our own.

Note: we were supposed to fly when LO was 4 weeks old, but due to a family emergency, we had to postpone our trip. Looking back, I would have felt fine abotu flying then too.

We are in the U.S. and aren't leaving the U.S. We are flying in country so we don't need a passport. Baby has a military ID but I think thats all we will need for identification.

I was super scared to fly alone, so my mom is going with me! Don't think I could handle it alone!

As for carrier like a baby carrier/car seat? I will def bring blankets I always get shivers on the airplanes! By two weeks does baby have the shots they need by then or do they need something special?
