I know I should have been taking folic acid a long time ago but this will be my first time taking it.
Do I take it as well as vitamins?
I swear that sounds like a daft question and I should know the answer but
If so should those vitamins be pre-natals or if a regular multi-vitamin OK?
What's the difference between pre-natal and multi-vitamins?

You can either take just folic acid or prenatals. Prenatals are multi-vitamins put together especially for pregnant women, containing concentrations of vitamins which are deemed important/helpful during pregnancy.

A regular multi-vitamin isn't tailored to pregnancy and I don't know if they're all recommended to be taken in pregnancy. Best to speak to your pharamacist or GP about that.

I've just started taking Pregnacare Conception, which is for people TTC. I was taking Sanatogen Pro-natal before which is just a general pregnancy one. The Pregnacare has higher levels of the B vitamins, which I'm hoping will help with my CM and also has a few other vitamins in it that the Sanatogen doesn't. I think most pregnancy vitamins have the recommended 400mcg of folic acid in them though so you probably don't need to take it seperately. Here's a link that tells you what's in each one https://www.vitabiotics.com/pregnacare/conception_formula2.aspx

I've just today bought the mens version for DH, although you can get them in a pack together which is cheaper (especially if you get the Boots 3 for 2). I don't know why I hadn't thought about making sure he was taking vitamins, when I've been taking them for 4 years lol!

Thanks for the interesting link. I'll have a good read on there.
