Follow on milk at 4 months?

Iv started weaning my lo and was advised to put on follow on milk aswell, is this ok and if so how many bottles do I give a day?

I was told to keep to stage 1 or hungry baby milk to start with. especially at 4 months. At 4 months and even at 6 months formula should still be your babys main food and solids should be given to get used to and to play with. Personally i wouldnt change to your baby is fully weaned. Also changing fomula and adding solids maybe a lot for little tummys

For now you should be giving your lo the same bottles as before. If bottles start to droip due to solids then drop the solids 1st. Babys need all the goodness from stage one or hungry baby formula

With Littleblonde. At this age ur LO should take his regular milk feeds in addition to solids. At 6+ mnths once ur Lo is on 3 solids meals she will only need 18-21 oz (around 3 bottles) but if she still wants more, she can have it. At 4-6 mnths, she needs her formula more than solids & she should not drop bottles when u introduce solids. Take it slow at this stage hun xxx

ETA: & u only switch to follow on at 6+ mnths xx

There is no need to ever switch to follow on.

Not sure, but I assume you should continue with the number of feeds he wants I feed my LO on demand though, so she always gets a bottle when she wants it. I assume that when they're on three meals a day (or even less), you will find they drop a feed or two anyway.

In regards to the follow-on at 4 months; I've not heard of that. I assumed that you still needed the stage 1 milk until they're 6 months old, because their bodies still need all the things in it? I haven't started weaning though. I'm not saying your HV is wrong, but if my HV said that to me, I would ask for a second opinion, just to be sure.
