Hi there, was just reminded of this on another thread so I thought Id ask in here :flower: anyone else have a "fussy eater"? Lexie is extremely food phobic which absolutely breaks my heart. Shes seeing a specialist but no breakthrough yet. She will eat- bread and butter, cheese, yogurt, fish fingers (maybe), tin of peppa pig shaped pasta (occasionally and must be peppa pig shaped) and she took a bite of a sausage the other day... So absolutely no fruit or veg, no meat, no potatoes.

We are going to MIL's for dinner at xmas and im worried about eveyone commenting on her eating, shes very self aware for a 2 yr old and this is a genuine phobia that she gets very upset over. At home she gets a plate of what the family has to eat plus something that she enjoys eating, which is the track we are following per doctors instructions. Im just worried shes going to get people encouraging her to "take a bite of this its lovely" which we do at home but can seriously upset her at times, to the point she starts clawing her face and freaking out trying to get away

Im thinking about saying something but dont know how to put across without sounding like im coddling her and wrapping her up in cotton wool? Her wee brother has no bother with food whatsoever! Thanks for getting this far though!

I'd make everybody aware of the issue, give her a small plate of xmas dinner and another plate of whatever you normally give. MAke sure no one mentions anything about eating more or whatever.
Keep it relaxed and if she doesn't eat she doesn't eat, allow her to leave the table if she's getting frustrated.
Maybe you could encourage her to want to eat with a new cutlery set present right before dinner so she can 'play' with them. Even if that doesn't help her eat it could help keep her calm.

I have a picky eater but not to that extent and he's getting much better.

Good luck x

Sorry hun but I think if this is a genuine phobia then it would be beyond insensitive if they wouldn't respect what you say. I'd just have a word x
