Do you find that people are surprised that you're finding out? We've had loads of people say to us "oh really, you want to know?".

It's not that we're OTT about knowing, it's just that if the sonographer can tell us then we are going to find out. For us, the decision was based on practicality as we can then buy gender specific items and choose the baby's final name, and I also thought that it would help us to bond with the baby.

But some people are surprised to the point of almost being rude about it. Has anyone else come across this?! x

Nope, I haven't experienced that. Mine was the opposite actually, they wanted to know what his gender was, we weren't even in the room yet to find out! I put it on my facebook, that this was our child and to stop texting and calling and facebooking me about demanding to know what the baby was, because it was a surprise. Still annoying though either way.

We got some very rude comments leading up to our 20 week scan. My OH already has a daughter, and lots of people said to me "oh he'll be so disappointed if it's another girl"... erm thanks for that! Turns out we are having a girl, and my OH couldn't be happier! Also people who said "I can't believe you're finding out with your first, you'll ruin the surprise".. well I'm sorry, but I very much doubt that when I hold my newborn daughter in my arms for the first time all I'll be thinking is "I really wish I'd kept the sex a secret" - people need to think before they speak! Rant over... for now! :) x

Older people are, mainly my Mum. We have found out every time and she is still surprised and ever so slightly rude about it. Its our baby and we want to find out, unfortunately people can't help putting their opinions in

I've gotten a lot of superior comments, like "I thought the surprise was the best part of the pregnancy". Well, the type A control freak in me likes to know as much as I possibly can, so while I'm super happy for your enjoyment of your surprise, I'm glad I found out the gender. And if you really like surprises, don't ask me what the gender is, and I won't tell you!

I dont want to no but hubby does, we kept 1st a surprise and it was amazin! I understand he wants to no as we have 1 child already so would be good but secretly im hopin our hospital has taken to refusing tellin the gender as there are a lot of people of a certain religion who go there that would abort a girl.

A lot of my family have said that it's nice to keep it a surprise but non have been rude about it. My nan said it would be nice to keep it as a surprise but i think with older people they are used to the fact that they couldnt find out when they were expecting and are possibly a little set in their ways. dont let people get you down about it, i found out im expecting a little girl and we are thrilled, only concern now is what if we buy all pink and it turns out to be a boy lol xxx

Ha ha, I'm glad it's not just me then. I guess it's something I'll have to get used to - people trying to push their opinions on us! :haha: x

This happened to one of my colleague's nieces. She bought all pink and decorated the nursery and everything and then it was a boy! I guess there are no certainties either way! x

yeah i guess you never know for certain until they're here, we really don't know whether to spend £80 on a babybond gender scan to find out for certain, oooh such a dilemna, £80 could buy so many nappies but dont wanna waste money on pink stuff! xx
