We've been co-sleeping since LO was born, feeding to sleep and LO has most of her naps on me, basically doing everything to 'make a rod for my back'. This morning however, I put LO down awake in her bed while I went to the loo. I came back and she was almost sleeping so I just left her there. She fell asleep by herself with no crying and no fuss. She started to wake up after half an hour but still didn't cry, I just rubbed her tummy and she went back to sleep. She then slept for another hour and woke up smiling. I was so worried that it would be a struggle to get LO to self-settle at some point in the future but she's shown me that she can do it easily with no tears. I felt under pressure to get into a routine or to try some kind of sleep training. But there's no need as this morning has shown. So, I'm going to continue the way I have been, following LO's lead and not forcing her to sleep alone. I haven't made her too clingy by allowing her to nap on me for the past 3 months. She's a calm and happy baby and I was right to trust my instincts
