Don't know ANYTHING about cars but we have a Ford Focus Zetec CLimate and it's been great so far. Loads of room, esp in the boot, decent size engine, AC, erm...good stereo

My other half is a car fanatic and says that the Zetec engines are one of the best diesel engines on the market. He says if you want a reliable, economical family car you can't go wrong. If we hadn't been Scooby fanatics and been desperate for a Wagon as our family car we would probably have got one xxx

Early Zetec engines suffered from sticking valve problems, a problem caused if not exacerbated by use of too thick an engine oil. The sticky valve problem is the reason for the redesign and redesignated Zetec-E engine which have been in production since 1998. Zetec engines haven't been used in Ford Focus since 2005 (not sure what age you are looking at though)

Could be the Duratec they are talking about??

The engine in the new Focus TDCI is the Duratorq diesel engine series used by Ford, and also in different forms by Mini, Peugeot, Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo and more, they are pretty darn bulletproof, mega economical and not your typical noisy diesel engine... in fact if they are well kept it will not sound too dissimilar to a petrol engine.

Essay over... if I've talked shit there, then I'm sorry, I'm half asleep and no doubt I will have to re write it all tomorrow when I get to work!

I'm an american, and even I won't buy a Ford... have had nothing but trouble with them in the past.
