My DD currently has 3 bottles in the daytime and 1 in the night. She has around 23oz across the 4 bottles. She's not a big eater of solids.

Should I continue giving her formula when she's passed her first birthday, or would you make some bottles up with cows milk? I'm wondering if she would eat more solids if the formula filled her up less..........but I don't want her missing out nutritionally.

And, if she continues with formula do the bottles still need sterilising?

My LO still has 4 bottles a day (about 24oz) and he is 1 next week. We still sterilise his bottles and probably will until he stops using them. I don't think its necessary when they are this old but my thinking is that it takes 2 mins to pop them in the steriliser so I may aswell just do it.

We haven't decided whether to switch to cows milk yet. I think there is more iron in formula so it may be better for your LO to stick with it if she isn't really big on solids. I think iron is quite important at this stage isn't it?

James isn't a big solids eater so I'll be sticking with formula just so he gets that added iron.
I'll continue sterilising until he no longer has bottles, it's not exactly a hardship to bung them in the microwave :flower:

Korben wasnt a good eater, but took him off formula around 14mths because i didnt think he was getting enough out of formula tbh plus i was pregnant again and didnt want two on bottles, formula etc. Weaned him off it with cows milk alternate bottles for a week. Noticed he started eating more and loved his snacks of carrots, cucumber and fruit.

I use a cold water steriliser and change it daily. It takes 5 litres each time. It's a lot of water when there are fewer bottles :(

I mentioned to my HV about lo's lack of interest in solids last week. Guess I should check with her what's best to do about the milk. Thanks for your comments.

you can get toddler formula which is less filing and just supplements which may be worth trying if your concerned she isnt getting enough otherwise, as for sterilising, we stopped about a year (perhaps a bit before) but used the dishwasher instead, which i figured killed everything anyway.

My son was a big eater, so just after a year had toddler milk and went off it slowly, he doesn't really like cows milk either so thats something to consider too.

With the night time feed have you tried giving just water? she may be thirsty rather than hungry
