Im lookin around and getting a bit lost! LO has outgrown his carseat and he is only 8 months. Im looking to buy the next stage car seat, but i want one which is usable both forward and rear facing.

Any ideas which car seats are capable?

Please dont turn this into a debate about the benefits of one over the other.

Britax Multi Tech, which you can buy from Volvo for around the £160 mark. It'll rear-face till LO is 25kgs (so about 5 years on average!). It can also be a harnessed forward facing seat, and then used as a booster seat (with a 3-point seatbelt).

rather than say, i dont want a debate, i would have just gone to a place that sells them, and ask the experts? no? :dohh:

I tend to value the opinion of other mothers over a salesperson anyday! Plus the closest place to buy them is around 40 min drive away. Research before you purchase?

We have the britax hiway and im pretty sure its rear facing up to 35lbs but can also be FF.

I would think if your planning on switching it between the both your LO might not like it. River has been FF 2 or 3 times in other kids car seats and we find when she goes back into our car she is less then immpressed.

Not planning on changing for a long time yet. Just most of the ones ive found are rear facing to 20lbs. My son is 24lbs already and only 8 months. Want to keep him rear facing till at least a year, then have the option to turn him forward facing if i decide to do so without having to buy another car seat x

oops i lied it goes up to 55lbs lol

https://www.carseat.se/store.html this website is good for ERF

We will be going for this one 'Britax Multi Tech' i think x

I think the multitech too.. This is the only one we found that does everything and isnt the most expensive (you can afford what you can afford!) although obviously dont want to compromise of safety! :) My lo is almost 9 months now and there is still room for her in her infant carrier seat thing so im going to hold out a bit longer.. she is over 20 lbs for sure (was 18.7 lbs at 5 months!) although have not got her weighed in a few months! xx

these carseats are from birth to 4 years

Experts dont always know everything, and up to date with products! Id go with other peoples experiences anyday.

Shes entiteld to say she doesnt want a debate about it as this is one of the hot topics that do easily get out of hand.

There aren't very many places that sell extended rear facing seats so it would take a LOT of driving around just to get to one and they might not even have ones that can also be forward facing. Many times the staff aren't very educated about their own products either, they just want to sell you things!

Here's some:

I recently go the Besafe izi combi which can be RF and FF  they can go in it from 6 months Very helpful company too.

Thanks for your replies ladies. Gave me some ideas to look into!

We've got the Britax multi tech. RF and FF from 9kg to 55kg.
