We've got a cheap hand blender but it's not doing the job! We all like soups really smooth, what kind of gadget is the best? Also for making smoothies. Anyone recommend anything?

I have a cheap hand blender (Tesco basic I think), it has been really good at making smooth soups.

You could have a look at a Soup Maker (it cooks and blends in one machine) if you make it regularly. There was one in Lidl for £35, can't comment on what it's like though.

Nutribullet, but you cant use it for hot stuff, and it is too small for soups, it makes 2 glasses of smoothie. Another option is a vitamix, but it's too expensive. Both are "extractors" not typical blenders, they have 4 blades & they extract the vitamins & nutrients. I have a kenwood staneless steel blender for soups & I get nice very smooth soups, but for our smoothies I use the nutribullet as I add nuts & seeds to smoothies. I prefer staneless steel blender for soups as I bad experiences with renuining the plastic ones with hot liquids

With normal blenders I found that the ones with a narrow jug are better.

You can get good hand blenders that make food pretty smooth but I'm having the same issue as you atm, I bought one to replace my last one (that I can't remember for the life of me where I got it from), and it's just not up to scratch!
I used to use the Kenwood smoothie maker which is decent for getting stuff smooth and has a cute little dispenser, but it's more of a faff than just whacking out the stick.

You just need a good blender. I've got a James Martin Wahl one, and it's great. I make big batches of soup 2/3 times a week.

Thanks everyone, it's defo not going to be another hand blender food goes all Over my walls!
