GBS and a sweep?

hi i found out last week that i am group b strep positive and will need antobiotics before delivery
however my due date is today and my midwife has offered me a sweep on thursday i have googled it and it seems some are saying it's fine while others say it can introduce the gbs into the womb
have any of you had any experiances regarding this?

i had never even heard of gbs until last week and am very confused as to what to do for the best

Hey .. i found out today that i am positive for group b strep also and will need antibiotics when i go in labor! .. im a little scared for the health of my baby and myself, dont know what to expect .. how are you feeling?

i had groub b strep with my 2nd..

i read up on it too much!!
my daughter was born premature on toilet and i couldnt get antibiotics they gave them to her for 3 days (they give them on just in case basis) til results come back and if possitive there already being treated!.

i wouldnt google it as you only hear the bad.. my daughter is completely healthy happy 3 year old x try enjoy pregnancy x

thanks ladies i asked my midwife today if the sweep was safe she said yes but decided to hold off until next week just incase rather a natural labour without so many internals if possible
i think my previous daughter had it altho was never formally diagnosed and she spent 7 days in nicu
i am very scared about the effects but on the other side the only thing to do is take the antibiotics offered and hope for the best
i have decided to leave google well alone as that can scare the hell out of you.
my midwife said just make sure as soon as labour starts you call labour ward and don't be fobbed off to have a bath and wait a bit longer.
get there and get the iv set up i do not think i will have a super quick labour but it is all still very worrying

hi im not sure if im too late replying to this sorry im new but i just thought i would say that i had GBS with my first son and i also had a sweep to try and get labour started, the sweep didnt work but it didnt cause any problems with my son either! i had antibiotics in labour and will have to this time aswell, i was so scared he would get ill but he was fine! also i was told that i needed the antibiotics for 4 hours before delivery for them to work best but he was born in 3 and a half hours! hope this helps, good luck xxx
