My cousin informed me of another old wives' tale to predict the gender of your baby. She said it was correct for her and I saw several stories online where it held true for other women too. I'd never heard of it before nor saw it mentioned here so I thought I'd share for fun!

For an external ultrasound, if the placenta is on the left, it would be a boy.
If the placenta's on the right, a girl.

For an internal/transvaginal ultrasound, if the placenta is on the right, it would be a boy.
If the placenta's on the left, a girl.

This is the article that explains the study that was done: https://www.whattoexpect.com/forums...the-article-for-placenta-placement-and-gender

I read this article too! I think you may have the genders mixed up though...

" 97.2% of the male fetuses had a chorionic villi/placenta location on the right side of the uterus whereas, 2.4% had a chorionic villi/placenta location to the left of the uterus. On the other hand 97.5% of female fetuses had a chorionic villi/placenta location to the left of the uterus whereas, 2.7% had their chorionic villi/placenta location to the right side of the uterus."

I had my 12 week scan last monday and was sure to ask the sonographer. She said the placenta was right and posterior. I am hoping for a boy so we will see if it is accurate!

I think the person above was right, you have to be looking at it from the mothers perspective ie if the placenta is on the right of the pic it's to the left of the mother then it's supposed to be a girl (for tummy u/s) for transvaginal u/s it's already the right way round and you just go bu the pic ie placenta on the left then it's a boy,
That's what I got from the e-mail

there was a thread about this on here a while ago. in my early trans vaginal scan the placenta and baby were to the left which would suggest girl, we had our gender scan this week and we are expecting a girl x

My placenta appeared to be right at the bottom of the sac on my 9 week scan! I hope it moves to the left or the right soon so I can see if there is any truth for me in this tale.

What about if it is toward the back? I had my 1st trimester testing this past week and duing the ultrasound, she said it looked to be toward my back.? I'm not really sure what that means..lol..
