Going back to work?

I don't know yet if I'll have a job to come back to

I'm on a temporary contact with the NHS which was due to be advertised in October but my health board have put a freeze on recruiting (except front-line staff) so they extended my contract to 31st March which means I get my full maternity pay, but I won't know until possibly after Christmas whether I'll have a job to come back to or not

They are about to undertake a huge management restructure to cut costs, so I just have to wait and see...

My situation sucks: I am the main earner for us (DH was down-sized last January and is currently a student). He'll be done school in April, but even if he finds a job right away, he needs to be at it for 5 months before he qualifies for parental leave. In Canada, you get 12 months total to split between the 2 or for 1 person to take. Problem is, I only have 3 months mat leave: if I take any more, it's completely without pay. We'll have to play it day by day and see what happens
