Hi girlies!!

Well i have been getting symptoms of endometriosis for a while now ( low back ache from ovulation up til af arrives, gradually gets worse, painful sex sometimes, spotting before af arrives, thick black discharge b4 af arrives, extreme tummy pains when af has arrived & when i do a poo )so went to speak to my doc & he said to speak to my fs about it as from what i was saying he thought a lap would be a good thing to have done. So i brought forward my appointment with my fs & asked her about it.....she said that i do not need it done, all my scans showed nothing so not to worry! I asked if scans def do show endo & she said not always but she said she thought i was fine. She sent me packing with a prescription of another 3 mths of clomid! I came out hospital crying my eyes out, felt like she wasnt listening :( So i have arranged an appointment at a local private hospital for next tues, to see a specialist gyno who does laporoscopys & deals with endo all the time. Costing £140 just to speak to him!! Apparently they do serve nhs patients there too so im hoping if he does refer me 4 a lap he can refer me as an nhs patient.....i cant afford the £3000 bill there!!! Had to go to my doctors today & get him to write a referal letter as the private one is asking for one.....i kinda feel all this just because my fs wouldnt listen & do her job properly!!!

I dont know if there is a long wait to have a lap done....im assuming it wont be til the very earliest feb now so at least i will have tried the clomid for 3 mths, then if i have lap done & if every things ok ( if not hopefully have the endo removed there & then!) then i can maybe try the other 3 mths of clomid i have got! I know im prob thinking far too way ahead now.....just helps me feel more positive knowing im doing things to help me have my dream of another baby :)

Due on Christmas Eve......would be brilliant to be pregnant then so i dont have to go through a lap but im willing to do anything to sort these symptoms out.

xx

Endo is very weird. My FS told me that he could see very little on the scan, and the only way to properly diagnose endo is with a lap. I was diagnosed last year. I have had 2 laps thus far. My symptoms were all the same as yours, but I have had them my entire life. Endo usually starts when your young. If you are taking clomid, then you could be having some side effects. My endo got worse while taking clomid. You may have a large cyct, but your FS should be able to see that on a scan. I had endo on my bowels, ovaries, and bladder. You could have a ton of endo and not even know it, or you could have very little and it hurts like HELL!! I'm more of the latter. I am stage 2, but it is not helping my conceive. I am on my 2nd IUI and my 4th round of clomid.

I debated if I should get the second lap this past november, and I just couldn't go another day without finding a reason for my infertility. I am on my first cycle off of the lap and I feel much better about what needs to be done in the future.

My advice: Go to a doctor that you believe in. Someone who is going to listen to you and help you with your insecurities. I was told SO MANY times that I was "fine," just to find out that I wasn't fine!!! I pray that you get the answers you are looking for. Good luck! Feel free to read my journal and PM me if you have any other questions!! Happy Holidays!

Good luck, hope you manage to get it sorted..

Hi Katy
I'm sorry you are having so much of a problem getting them to listen to your concerns. :hugs:

I had my lap in November and was diagnosed with mild-moderate endo - very similar symptoms to yours, but have been having them my whole life. I went through a load of fertility treatment without conceiving with my ex-husband a few years ago and because we had male-factor infertility, they stopped testing with me and just went through IUI and IVF treatment. I was in agony with very bad symptoms at the time - the worst I have had before or since - and although I pushed and pushed they said I didn't need a lap.

Well, looking at my recent lap results, I have major endo scarring which was all due to quite severe endo before so I obviously did have it and they should have listened. Had I been diagnosed 10 years ago, who knows where I would be now? As i have been on the pill for a few years before TTC this time, the endo has minimised and hopefully my chances are better before it comes back in full force.

Sorry for the long story, but I just wanted to show that sometimes you know your body better than the experts and it pays to push. I regret that I didn't push harder at the time, or do as you are doing and get a second opinion. Persevere and even if it is money to find out that you don't have endo, at least you have ruled one thing out. I would hate for someone else to have to go through all that treatment as I did, with something undiagnosed.

All the best sweetie, and fingers crossed that this will all be immaterial if you get that BFP at Xmas. :dust:

thank you babychristie....sounds like you have really been through a tough time too!! really hoping your iui in jan goes well & u get ur well deserved BFP :) x

Some one needs to sack the FS. Endo does not show up on scans unless u have an endo cyst. Is the FS an endo expert? Is it possible to be referred to another hospital and get it looked at under nhs. When i complained to my gp about my current hospital last year he said he can refer me to another one of my choice. I am sure you can asked to be referred to another hospital.

You are the only person that knows ur body the best and pain during bowel movements sounds like a typical endo symptom. Do you know on average it takes a woman 10 years to be diagnosed with endo. I really do hope u find a gyno that takes u seriously and i pray its not endo!!!!

Goodluck

thanks for your reply Dilek.....i went to my doc about the syptoms im getting & he said speak to my fs as it sounds like you need a lap, which i did.....the fs said i do not need it done. So i arranged to see a specialist at a private local hospital, apparently he deals with endo & does laps all the time :) my doc agreed this was the right thing to do so wrote me a referall letter, just hope the private hosp get it by tues!! thats when appointment is. Apparently they do have nhs patients there too so my doc said if the specialist says ok to having the lap done ( which he said 99% chance it will be fine) then i need to ask the specialist about having it done on the nhs, as i have no insurance. Apparently according to my doc he said that specialists are a bit funny about doing laps if you are ttc as incase your preg.....im really hoping he does let me have it done. I feel really let don by my fs for not refering me.....im hoping i wont need to go & see her much now tho anyway.....ive got my clomid prescription til end of april....she has already said iui is not an option from my hospital as they do not do it......& plus we have to pay for it as have a 4 year old daughter so may just as well go the fertility center near us for that...registered last week with them to get the ball rolling!

so sorry Dilek that you are going through rough time too...has all your endo been removed now?? are you going ahead with another ivf?
