Got a huge scare today!! no heartbeat at midwife..

Hi I ventured over early too.. I hope you don't mind I also have to share what happened today.
I have never been to a midwife before, had my consult, and then they checked for the heart beat for 15 minutes. It was horrible. no heartbeat. They told me to go for a scan, which took another couple of hours (had to travel a ways) ..waited another 40 minutes there (sat there shaking from not knowing what was going on)
went in and there was baby moving, waving etc. I know not the most exciting story but I am on cloud nine. Got a pic of my bean. heart rate was 160. I am 13 weeks (moved up a few days from u/s)
You know when you're in that moment of not knowing..and then knowing only one thing: it's not about money, doing daily tasks or fighting with hubby. nothing matters except knowing your child is ok.
I'm so happy.. floored with joy. Thanks for listening!!! can't wait to get to know you all!!

Aw I am glad it ended up great! But how scary!

They wouldn't even check me for HB until 16 weeks I think because LO's move so much and they didn't want to worry us. And even now, at my 23 week appt was the first time it didn't take like 20 minutes to find my wigglers HB

Awwww..good that you were reassured. Where i am (West Sussex) they say they wont attempt to look for heart beat at 16 week appointment becasue its likey they might not find it, so i either buy a doppler or wait until my 21 weeks scan on the 5th Jan....xx

glad everything is ok! im suprised they looked for a heartbeat this early on though!!! My midwife had a little listen last week just to make my appt more worthwhile and she warned me before hand that as i was only 15 weeks they dont norm try to find heartbeat and she might not find it. But she found it straight away. I dont think she should have done that to you... But the main thing is that baby is ok and its great you got a sneaky peak to!! so maybe the worry is worth it just for that?! xx

Same thing happened with me.... Doc couldn't find the heartbeat so i was sent for an ultrasound nd i seen my bambina bouncing around... Was so happy nd relieved that she was okay.
