Grrrr - Rant

I hate our local forum! Ladies there comments & most of them knows nothing. A poor lady who's FFing has a hungry 7 days old baby. They have no idea on Growth spurts. They'r all BFing, & they think that by offering a hungry baby more than the recommended will make him sick! They assume because a baby is FF he doesnt know when he's full & will keep sucking! They have no clue about comfort formula for a colicy baby!

Another lady was seeking advise regarding weaning her 10 mnths old daughter. She's a 40-ish 1st time mom. No one bothered to advise her to offer her LO more varieties! The poor baby is not a big drinker but is having the min of 18 oz which is fine. But again no one has a clue! "Offer her more bottles" is the only comment they suggested! No one suggested finger food, or some cooked food instead of tasteless stage 1 jars!

I feel bad for all those 1st time mommies. Thank God I found BnB at an early stage

You may find that even if you're in the minority that by sharing your experience and advice that you'll be heard still, and if given often enough, you may even educate a few other mums, not to mention that those first time mums you helped can go on to share their advice and experience too so you won't be the only one!

I hate it when people give the wrong information, even through ignorance. If I know something to be true, I will say it, and in most cases I will state my source, so they know it's not just my opinion. If I'm not sure about something, I will say that I'm not sure, and that they're better off confirming it with a professional (paediatrician/HV/MW), but I won't pass off my ideas as gospel and get other mothers into doing the wrong thing

It does my head in becuase then you get the OP thanking them and saying that they're going to start doing it too Yahoo Answers is a question/answer site, and I find so many stupid comments there that people take for truth; suggestions like putting cotton wool balls up your privates if you have no tampon to hand
