Hey im 9weeks & 6days and was wondering if anyone know if its ok to either get my hair dyed or get acrylic nails done?
Everytime i ask someone they say they dont know :S I dont wanna risk it just incase..

it is ok to have both done aslong as your in a well ventalated area...but you are adviced to to a skin test first to see if you have a reaction to the products as your more likely to have reactions due to the hormonal changes :) x x

Hi, I had acrylic nails put on when I was about 5 weeks and it is said to be perfectly okay. In fact the woman who did them for me was 6 months and she had them on too :) I wouldn't use hair dye though, I read that it is best to steer clear of it incase it gets on to your scalp. Good luck x

I dyed my hair and everything was fine. Stay in a well ventilated area.

I am actually about to go get my hair highlighted as we speak. My dr. said it was ok to get done as long as I don't do it myself (I guess that goes to the ventilated area part since a salon will be better ventilated than your bathroom). I got mine done when I was pg with my daughter as well. Not sure on the nails though....

i asked the midwife as i was worryed and looked into it, nails are fine if its well venterlated, and hair dye she wouldnt recoment a light colour (blonde) due to the peroxide, but dark (black and dark brown) is fine, and same goes for semi perminate also x

Awww don't say that :( I'm not a natural blonde..:(

my midwife said blonde was fine the only thing is sometimes the colour takes differently x

Hair dye - normally advised to wait after 1st trimester, both dark dyes and peroxides can cause unwanted colours,(im a ex hairdresser, ive seen it!!!) and hormonal changes can leave you at risk of allergic reactions. Its a personal decision.

Nails - as long as its ventilated you're at minimal risk. Says me whos about to get get them now

The only thing i've been told is the hair colour may take differently due to hair oils changing and that the nails may not last as long or adhere properly.

I suggest with the nails you use a salon that uses MMA free products as that stuff can be dangerous.

It easy to spot salons who use MMA as they wear masks to protect themselves but dont offer you one!!

Opt for a salon who uses EMA in their products.

Just ask them if there products contain MMA or EMA if they say the 1st or say they dont know then walk!!

both are fine just stay in a well ventilated area!
