During the last week or so I've noticed my hair falling out not in clumps but just when I brush it or wash it there are loads of strands on the floor and when I woke up it did look generally thinner.

I'm 7weeks pg and usually have strong thick hair. It also gone really greasy and my scalp is itching like mad I haven't changed my products, do you think i should?

My friend is 16 wks and she has 2bald patches I'm scared mine will go the same. Is this kind of thing normal?

I've actually read that later on in pregnancy, women shed less hair than normal. So I'm not sure how common this is, but I am in the same boat with the shedding issue. My OH was kind enough to pull my hair baby from the shower drain the other day, and congratulated me on giving birth already lol. I owe him. But despite the huge amounts of hair I'm losing, no bald spots yet for me.

The greasiness is to be expected though, and is due to hormonal changes. Perhaps hair products more specifically designed for oily hair might help you more during pregnancy, and avoid anything that has any oils as an ingredient for your hair or face as that can make the problem worse.

Can you find Selsun Blue over there? Head & Shoulders? Those 2 might help with the itchy scalp. My hair falls out all the time though this is normal to me. You might want to talk to your OB though and see what he/she suggests. I had to ask a hairdresser friend of mine to find me a salon brand shampoo/conditioner for my itchy scalp because it has started to scale up as well.

I'm having the same thing...well, my hair actually seems stronger/falling out less but it is greasy and my scalp is very itchy and tender. I had this happen at the same point in my last pregnancy. My scalp was so tender I could hardly wash my hair. It passed after a week or two. I'm hoping the same will happen this time.

Good luck.
