Hello lovelies

Has anyone sewed/made their own Christmas decorations? I'm thinking about doing festive hanging hearts? I need good book/website recommendations because I can only just about sew a hem up so need guidance in a serious way :haha:

Hand sewing onto felt is really easy! If you get some red felt, you can use a white or ivory embroidery thread to do a simple running stitch and make it into a decorative feature!

Thanks PL - think I'm going to do some googling and get some ideas together

we're doing handmade bits this year
salt dough tree decs and maybe some ornaments,
paper chains, felt hangings, decorating baubles
things like that :happydance:

emily loves arty stuff so it'll be fun and messy
but still fun

I haven't but I'll be watching this thread for ideas. I really fancy a rustic wooden/gold and brown christmas this year

Oooh, that sounds pretty TM. Mr Boofs likes his Christmas decorations loud and with lots of tinsel :dohh: but I would really like perhaps all red and cream, with tartan or red checked hearts/stockings etc

I really really hate tinsel  My Mum's house is all tinsel-y and I don't like it

Mrs TM does whatever I tell her to :winkwink: Just kidding! We are trying to decide between a rustic feeling christmas tree/decs etc and multi coloured disney! The Disney Store have some lovely packs of baubles in and we were thinking about buying a few packs of those and then just some random multi coloured ones. We have two different colour schemes already from previous years (silver/purple/black and gold/brown) but want something different this year.

I know they're not handmade but Dobbies garden centres always have AMAZING christmas decorations.

Were going to pinecones, wash, dry and then decorate them for the tree and also dry our own oranges, apples and cinnamon sticks to hang on the tree. Thats all we have come up with so far

Aww Katrina - that will look and smell gorgeous!

I'm glad I'm not the only tinsel hater in the world TM  Hopefully now I'm Mrs Boofs, I might be able to throw my weight around in regards to the Christmas tree :haha:

Yeah I'm doing some of my own! I'm making the little hearts out of calico and red gingham with little buttons :D
I don't follow pattens though (sorry!) I'm just gonna draw a heart on some paper and copy that :haha:

Also plan on making apple cinnamon decorations - apple sauce, ground cinnamon and gold glitter - roll it out, cut shapes, wait for it to dry and hang them on the tree :)
We're gonna paint pinecones and I've got little jingle bells to put on the bottom. I was also thinking about making a gingerbread man garland.

I'm thinking of buying a Chrisrmas Craft Mag from shop think it's about £4.99 but it's got loads of ideas in and mini tips ect so can see what's in there and then get the things needed on the cheap :)

Watch out you can get addicted
I have a few on them now, I love them! The ones I've got have come with free paper books which are brilliant for papercrafts, some of the patterns are gorgeous. Crafts Beautiful has a free CD with different templates on it :)

Ooh, I can see a trip to WHSmiths coming on tomorrow.....x

Are the craft mags already out?? I looove stuff like that!

I got the craft mag the other day, the paper that comes free is really good but the cd doesn't work on a mac and I don't have a pc :(

I am making some felt bunting, it looks pretty cool I will take a photo later.

I'm also copying katrinas pine cones, apple and orange slices and cinnamon sticks!

I'm also going to going to collect some branches and spray them silver, tie them together and use them as a table centrepiece. I thought maybe a square glass jar and bird decorations.

Here is a pic of my felt decorations so far- I'm going to make it into bunting.
