Has anyone ever had an infection in their episotomy scar? 6 weeks PP?

Hey...I am 6 weeks PP and went to the doctors yesterday with a very sore, swollen, red and hot bum! He told me the stitches up inside my rectum (had 4th degree tear) are infected and the scar where they cut me to use forceps is also... I am now on amoxacilin...has anyone ever had an infection in their stitches and how long did it take to heal? I am also having 2 salt baths a day on docs instructions (which may I add is hard to fit in when you have a newborn to look after!)

Also there seems to be a slit/ hole in my perinium area right next to my anus (sorry tmi I know) but it's not leaking any puss - does anyone know what this is? When I poo it still really hurts

Hello. Yes my episiotomy scar got infected within 5 days of having LO. Was put on antibiotics. It cleared, then I got another infection 2 weeks later. I had to see my doctor every two weeks until 8 weeks pp and then every month until 4 months pp for him to check the healing and for signs of infection. I completely healed at 13 weeks pp (well as much as i was going to) having had 2 infections it didnt' heal perfectly as the stitched came away too early but after 13 weeks I didn't really care as long as it was healed. It seems very common from the amount of people I have seen on here.

I never had any pain when going to the toilet so can't help with that unfortunately but it does get better, just try to take it easy, and I found not walking too much helped.
