Hello :)

I have booked an early private scan for 8th January i should be roughly between 7 and a half- 8and a half maybe even nine weeks (not really sure on dates!)

I booked it because i have been none stop worrying that something maybe wrong, don't know why i have thought this i just googled stuff and got myself worked up!

Recently, i've been thinking whether i want to go ahead with it.. Happens if it is too early and i get myself worked up over something 'bad' for nothing...

Money isnt an issue and i'd pay a lot for peace of mind and the reassurance that my little one is ok :)! But can anyone tell me if you have had an early scan either through the NHS/Private and whether you are glad you had it?

Also if i am only seven weeks will i definitely still see a heartbeat? That's all i want to see, and that will reassure me no end, then i'll be able to actually enjoy pregnancy without worrying, stressing out and feeling sad!!

Any replies would be much appreciated :D

I had scans at 6+6 & 7+6. I saw the heart beat at both. I didn't see much else though :) Baby still looks like a little blob basically ;) I had the first scan because I took a pg test and it came up positive, but I had no idea when my last period was since I didn't ovulate regularly. So I had no idea how far along I was. The second scan was because her heart rate was a little low at the first scan. I got the scans because my Dr wanted me too, so I am glad I had them for reassurance.

Also I'm in the US and my insurance is through my employer.

I had a scan at 6+5 and saw the heartbeat. It's so reassuring just to know bubs is ok! I'd do it if i had a choice honey, i only got one as i had an early bleed xx

At 7 weeks there will definitely be a heartbeat if you're sure of dates. I had one at 8 (typical in the us) and it is so worth it for the reassurance. I don't know how people make it til 12 weeks!

I had scans at 6.5 weeks with my twins and singleton and seen all heartbeats then (via abdominal and transvaginal ultrasounds). I have a scan booked or this bub at 7 weeks too.

I have had a scan at 6+1, 7+2 (see siggy) and will be having another one tomorrow :) I have weekly scans due to being high risk. You should be able to see a heartbeat by then :)

Thanks guys!
You've all made me definitely want it again, and i think it will be definitely woth it for reassurance- i will keep you all updated - hope i get to see a healthy little blob with a heartbeat!!! :D:hugs:

I had an u/s at 6w and they could see the heartbeat and baby, so I think you would be able to see one by 7w.

I've had scans from 3 weeks on with my pregnancies. My daughter was first at the end of week 7. My second pregnancy they did U/S starting at 3 weeks, then 4 weeks (looking for cause of pain), then we saw the baby at 6 weeks. This time I held off until 8 weeks and we found out they were twins. :)

I had my first scan at 3w6d and the second one was 4w1d but I am in the high risk category due to advanced maternal age and having had 7 losses. I go for my 3rd scan on 1/9 which would be 8 weeks and should see the heart beating away in there.

I had my first scan at 6 weeks exactly due to my irregular cycles. We heard the heartbeat and saw a little blip.
If you have the resources I would definitely do the scan! I've been worrying myself to death these past few days and would LOVE to have another scan just to make sure the baby is growing properly.

I had my first scan at 5+6 to make sure baby is where it's supposed to and we saw a hb. I had another scan at 8 weeks to find a cause to some pain and was able to see and hear a hb. It's definitely worth it and does put your mind at ease!

I had one with my first pregnancy at 8w and found that I had a missed mc, so I'm glad that I paid to go private rather than wait an extra month thinking that I was pregnant only to then find the baby had died.

I had one with my second pregnancy at 8w but baby was dated back to 6+5 and there was a heartbeat and all was fine and then I had another one with my third pregnancy at 8wks and I was dead on with dates. Saw a heartbeat then as well :)

I have one booked for this pregnancy when I will be 7+5 but I wish I could have it earlier :)

with dd I was 6w2d at our first scan. she was just a little blob but we hot to hear I nice heartbeat.

with this LO we were 9w1d it actually looked baby like and we saw baby wiggle and jump a little with a nice strong heartbeat in the 170s

there was def more to see at nine weeks vs the six week ultrasound but ird always nice to hear an see by for that reassurance

I paid for a private on at 8 weeks. Saw baba with heartbeat. It was nice to be told i was actually 8+4 so jumped forward half a week.

I had a MC in June and couldn't stand the thought of waiting until 12/13 weeks for a scan. The money was well spent. Don't get me wrong, I still worry now, especially if I lose symptoms for a day!

I heard that if you hear a heartbeat at 8 weeks, 97% of mothers will take their new born baby home with them! I think that's reassurance enough! I just hope LO is ok :)

Apparently the miscarriage percentage goes down after seeing the heartbeat at 8 weeks :)

I just got a callback and I'm booked in for my early scan on the 21st at 5:30pm.
She said "it will be £60 cash" quite a few times, I think I got that when I looked at their website haha!
