LO has almost grown out of carrycot, and I don't like using the carseat all the time, but the pushchair bit says for 6 months +. There is no way he will fit in his carrycot for another 3 months!
Has anyone used their pushchairs earlier than recommended?

Not yet but I'll be watching the thread to seeother responses as Abby has about an inch to spare right now!!

Yep. We have a Bugaboo Cameleon and the carrycot was very closed in ikywim. He became hysterical everytime i put him in it, same with the moses basket. I put him in the seat unit at 6 and a half weeks. The seat unit can lay flat, semi reclined and bolt upright. He lays in semi reclined and loves it!

Thanks, ours has several reclining positions as well, hadn't thought about this making it easier!

I have indeed.
The recommendations are because of harness size it was hugeee on Mia, but the pram went funny down a path once and she stayed in nicely
AND because smaller babies need to lay down (until they can sid unaided) to help their back.
My pram didn't lay flat down but it laid flat enough for her back not to be cramped.
As long as you check it all, and the baby is comfy, and supported (you can get inserts or support too) you'll be fine.

It's your baby, you'll know he's comfy.

Also you'll have to put up with idiotic people saying "Ohhh I would NEVER put my baby in a pram like that so little, it's not supporting enough" as I did, and I just clearly replied "the carseat hurt her back, and my other travel system was too big for the busses"

My LO was in the sitting up setting of our travel system since 3 months. She started crying and crying cos she couldn't see what was going on.

I'm not sure what the reccomende age is for our carrycot and pushchair but I started a thread te other day about when to change over and a lot of girls did it at 4 months.
EVA is 4 months and I'm thinking of doing it as she prefers to sit more upright and is very nosey!

He doesn't mind the carrycot at all, its more a problem that his head will end up wedged at one end and his feet at the other! Our carrycot has a little turny knob thing on it where we can raise the head end anyway, so if we are going anywhere where there are interesting things to see then I raise him up a little.

Erin is 3 months and she has a travel system and sits in the carseat bit. I get freaked out with this cos she looks kinda squished and im always checking if she is breathing ok (i know, i am very paranoid)

I've been thinking about putting her into the stroller bit with it slightly reclined, so she can stretch out a bit...but i was a bit afraid of the comments i may get like xpatchx said.

But then again there is always gonna be someone that is gonna make a comment no matter what we do, so sod em! I'd rather Erin was comfy. Just try him out in it and see if he likes it IMO xx

I'm using the pushchair seat now (at 3 months), LO much prefers it to the carrycot. I've also taken the cushion out of my carseat as LO always looked squashed and starting screaming everything we put him in it. The screaming has stopped so he was obviously uncomfortable in it.

I've had to take the liner out of the car seat too, especially now with the colder weather LO is going out wrapped up like some kind of bear! With all the layers he just didn't fit properly!

I don't think I'd have been that polite!
