Has This Happened to You?

Recently I posted about seeing the ER doctor and I'm just curious if this has happened to you.

I should be 7 weeks today on the nose, but the ultrasound that I had yesterday shows I'm more like 4.5 weeks gestation. She did both scans and didn't say anything about a tilted uterus. She showed me the sac and everything.

My first instict is blighted ovum and that I'm going to lose this baby. Especially because she's trying to tell me that I conceived it 2 days before I should have got my period....and my BHCG is only at 2227. (I got another test today but won't get the results until next week.)

Has this happened to anyone before where your LMP didn't match the early ultrasound by almost 3 weeks?

I have another ultrasound on October 3, so perhaps I really did ovulate very late in the cycle and everything is ok? That would be the best case scenario for me and I would love that to be!!!!

I'm sorry hun. I didn't want to leave you with nothing. I would just wait and see if your levels increase. Sometimes our cycles are all messed up and other times the tech might have made a mistake. Just hang in there and know you are being thought of...

It's certainly possible to ovulate late and therefore have the dates be off. According to my LMP I should be at 7+ weeks gestation but I actually ovulated much later than day 14 and so I'm only at 5 weeks. If you have had irregular cycles then there's an even greater likelihood that you did just have a later ovulation. I hope it works out for you.

Bananaz I totalllllllllly hope that I ovulated late but I never keep track so I can't be sure. Thanks ladies for responding. I appreciate it. =)

It has happened to me to be out by 2 weeks and unfortunately it was not a happy outcome that time.
by their predictions, if that scan was right, I would have conceived around the same time I got a positive hpt. We all know that can't happen.
When did you get the positive test?

i know when i went for an 10 week scan i got put back by nearly 3 weeks, but i was on the pill when concieved so am unsure as to my exact dates. Now 6 weeks on and still have happy baby.

The thing to go from is a positive hpt. The very earliest you can get one, even on the most sensitive, is 7dpo, ie 3 weeks pregnant. If you can remember what date you did your first test, you can work out if, from the dates the sonographer tells you, you could have been at least 3 weeks, it may be ok. If not, it probably isn't. Obviously if you were on contraception and not ttc, you would not have been testing that early.
The only thing to really do is to see if two scans a week apart show enough progress.

I don't know much about this. But, I have a friend who went for an early scan, she was supposed to be 6 weeks, but found out she was actually 4. she's now in 3rd trimester carrying a healthy little boy

I would agree with what the ladies are saying. When did your HPT say you were pregnant? Obviously it can't be positive before you were actually pregnant so if those dates don't match up then that is not good. I wish you the very best.

Hi! I ovulated almost exactly 3 weeks late. I went to my first U/s at 8 weeks after my LMP and measured for 5w 2 days. Had another U/S at 7w2d, and another at 11w6d, and everything seems to be going ok.

Actually, now that I think about it, my LMP was "updated"/corrected to june 23 when I'm certain it was june 1 (I was keeping track), so it was even more than 3 weeks..

Hang in there, don't give up!

I got the positive test on September 10th. It was a clear blue conception indicator test and it said I conceived 1-2 weeks ago. My period was due September 3rd. I took another one on September 15th that said I conceived 2-3 weeks ago. So they all seem to jive with I just ovulated late. I really hope thats the case.

Oh my goodness! You have given me so much hope! I too know for a fact that my LMP was August 4th because I keep track as well! I would be thrilled to know that I actually conceived very late in the month and that I have a healthy embyro growing in my tummy. I don't care if I'm 4.5 weeks when I should be 7 as long its growing and healthy!!
