Hi Ladies,

I haven't been on here in a while with life getting hectic but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for eliminating anxiety when getting ready for a c-section?

My first section was an emergency and I had hoped for a VBAC but my Bean is not cooperative for such a thing. He is floating high and they estimate a BIG boy! :) So...it's another c-section for me but the anxiety is just building by the hour and I still have 27 hours to go!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHH.....

I know it is illogical because c-sections are done all the time, but I keep thinking about what COULD go wrong and all the unknowns...worrying about the baby, etc. My baby seems perfect from multiple ultrasounds, but because of some concerns for genetic abnormalities based on a strong family history on Dad's side they are going to have a NICU team in the OR to be prepared just in case and I am just a mess.

Any suggestions to help calm down? I know this experience likely will be nothing similar to the first but....oh my....

aww hun try and calm down a bit stupid thing to say i know but remember this is their job. everyday all day they go to work and get babies out they know exactly what they are doing at every moment. its natural to think what could go wrong but honest hun the chances are tiny just think tomorrow you meet yr baby!!!!

Thank you...I think sometimes it just helps to hear someone else say it! When I read "tomorrow you meet your baby" I started crying. Don't know why...it's not like I haven't known he's coming for 9 months...I guess I just can't believe the day is about here and it is actually going to happen! :hugs:

Hi hon

Completely understand where you're coming from. My 1st was an emergency c-section and there were issues (identified immediately before I went to theatre although DH and I were none the wiser until Daisy was born). This meant there were alot of additional people in the theatre but to be honest I didn't notice. I was just so focused on meeting my daughter.

Emmi26 is right - they do this day in, day out, the chances of anything being wrong are tiny - it's really good that they are going to have the additional bods in there just in case but I'm sure they won't be needed.

You have had lots of ultrasounds, all of which have been fine. Despite this, your worry is completely normal - believe me I'm in the same boat. Because of the increased risk, the sonographers / consultants will be pretty certain all is ok.

Nothing will go wrong, I've heard that elective sections are much calmer than emergency ones. The team will be focused on making sure you feel ok as well and you just need to try and stay focused on the fact that this time tomorrow, you will be back on the ward with your little boy and all will be perfect.

Good luck, all will be good xx

You will be fine. C-sections are performed every day. Good luck tomorrow :)

Good luck for tomorrow - remember your C-Section is planned too so there is even less risk. Good luck hon and you'll get to meet your baby tomorrow!! xxxx

Loz and Lily 2yrs and bump 29 weeks

Thanks so much... I am feeling a bit better and getting excited. The worry sneaks in every few hours but I can't wait to meet my new little man and look into his eyes! I just keep telling myself tomorrow at this time he will be nursing and we will be settling into life as a newly expanded family! :) Hopefully it will keep helping...
