having what im sure are contractions

I'm only 19 weeks. My uterus gets hard and I get cramps. This happens a few times a day. I'm so nervous about it. I've read some scary things lately. Has anyone experienced this too? I'm 35 and read that my age is one of the risk factors for preterm labor.
