im just 5 weeks pregnant and as i was having a few probs which i have mentioned before i had my hcg levels measured every 48 hours. they started at 219 and in a week they have shot up to 5462!, havent been told nothing by the doctors about this but me and my husband are wondering if this is normal and does it indicate more than 1 baby?

My friend on another forum had high levels at 5 weeks (5+1 actually) and they were 7500+, but when she had bleeding the next day they only saw one baby in there.

Mind you it has been known for them not to spot twins until later scans! :flower:

I think that can be normal. Mine were 177 at 4w0d, 1285 at 4w4d and at 5w4d (yesterday) mine were 19,600. As far as I know, it's pretty normal. But I have a scan next week and I guess we will find out then.

Good luck.

Mine was super high over 30,000 at 6 weeks but theres only 1 in there!

Mine went from the 550 range to 3800 in a four day span. I just found out I was having twins but that was because of an early US (due to having a low HCG in the beginning believe it or not!). According to a doctor friend of mine HCG levels aren't necessarily a good indication of multiples early on.

Can you ask for an early scan to rule it out if you're worried?

at 6+0 mine were well over 20,000 :) Sounds normal to me!

At 5+4 my hcg was at 21 388 and definitely only one in there! There's charts that'll put such high numbers in the category of multiples, but I wouldn't trust that at all :hugs: your numbers sound great to me either way! x
