Hi

I keep experiencing headaches with dizziness and very itchy skin especially legs, arms and back. Does anyone else get this? Should I speak to my midwife, or am I just coming down with something?

Thanks

Ive been having headaches too! i woke up with one today and i cant shift it!!
Im going to mention it to my midwife on thursday just incase! My skin has been alot dryer so ive been itching lots on my arms and back!

I had the worst headaches in the first tri and early part of 2nd tri - nothing I did could get rid of them, it was awful. Luckily they seem to be lessening, though.

But the itchy skin thing is still there for me! I think it is a combo of hormones (because I used to get itchy before my period, too), and dry skin. Invest in a a really good moisturizer...that helped me.

The itching could just be you skin getting more sensitive for some reason, but you should mention it to your MW incase she wants to get you checked for obstetric cholestasis, which causes really bad itching in pregnancy, although its usually on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet, but it CAN be in other places too, so make sure your MW doesn't just fob you off.

The headaches and dizziness could be blood pressure related maybe?? I've been feeling dizzy and getting headaches too but my bp is ok at the moment and i have been told its just 'one of those things' in pregnancy... but if it carries on i will definitely be mentioning it again!

I hope you feel a bit more normal soon :)
You're due a day before me, maybe this is the time in pregnancy when we get headaches/dizziness/itchiness because i've been having all of those too, hehe :haha:

Thanks Ladies,
Ended up going to the GP, BP is slightly up, and i have had to have lots of blood test as the itchness could be a bit more serious, have to go back Thursday am. :( Sick of feeling ill now :(

Fingers crossed that they will find out that its just something easily treatable in pregnancy, im sure it will all turn out fine
It's my second baby, and not finding out till he or she pops out, hehe. Just seen that its your second baby too, i don't know about you but this time round it seems so much harder than the first time!! :dohh:
I hope you start to feel a bit better soon, keep us updated, i really hope its nothing to worry too much about :hugs:

I've had terrible ezcema this pregnancy and I didn't have an issue like that with my first. I do have a topical steroid that my dermatologist gave me and I've also started using pine tar soap (it doesn't smell that great but it works). And they say to continue to moisturize. Once the itching got so bad it woke me up in the middle of the night!

Thanks, I will do. Just so bloody itchy its driving me mad now
I am finding it alot harder this time around, just feel so tired all the time, and my energy levels have disappeared totally
We found out we are having a girl (another) which i am happy about, just need to chose a new name. I was convinced bump was a boy this time, just a totally different pregnancy.

just wanted to quickly say that you can take antihistamines in pregnancy if you need to, piriton/piriteze etc stops you feeling the urge to itch which would probably be a huge relief for you!! You could always try and take them until you find out what the problem is :)
