i used to get really bad migrains every time i was on my period until i got pregnant. the last time my period was due i didnt get a headache and thought 'good! the hormones are balanced out now!'

but now my next period would have been due around about now and i have had a bit of a headache (not bad) for a couple of days. arent they meant to go away for the next 9 months if you used to get period migraines before pregnancy?

does anyone else still get their period headache when they are pregnant? im worried my pregnancy hormones may not be right and that this is a signnnnnn....

I get the headaches along with the severe nausea and vommiting. Thr frickin trifecta, huh? Lucky me. Lol.

Ive heard headaches can be normal during pregnancy though. The joys of hormomes.

I've been the same. I always had a migraine around period time and sometimes ovulation. But since getting pregnant I noticed I had been headache / migraine free :happydance: That was until last week when I had headache a couple of days running, similar pattern to my migraines but pretty mild in comparison. I calculated that if I was still menstruating, thats exactly when it would have happened  It makes no sense to me but I wondered if perhaps my body was still doing something cyclical but to a lesser extent now. Very strange

I dont ever get headaches, and ive had one NON STOP since 1 week before by BFP!! Its driving me nuts, my dr says its my hormones!!!

I occassionally get migraines. I never got one with my period or anything and it had been months since my last one. That was until I was 7+4 ... I too thought I would be migraine-free during pregnancy but soon found out I am having them more frequently! Had 3 migraines in 8 days! Apparently migraines can become better or worse during pregnancy. Great! I'm hoping they go away after first trimester.

I heard about 80% of women who had period migraines don't get them during pregnancy...so you must be in the unlucky 20%. I haven't had a migraine since. But since taking Zofran for my nausea...I was up alllll night long with a throbbing headache that Tylenol won't touch.

*edit - Woo! I'm a prune today!!

i dont mind being in the unlucky 20 percent  well i do, but as long as there is an unlucky percentage it is preferable to something going wrong :)

Very true...believe me...I got a mild headache around the time my first period was due and I was sooo scared it meant something bad. I don't think you have to worry about it...but its scary. Everything makes us worry!

Period headaches, no, but horrific migraines? Yes. I know I am going to vomit when I feel a headache coming on. I have to sit in the dark a LOT.

I just got my BFP yesterday and I've been experiencing really bad headaches for the past few days as well...they literally last hours.

Just found this article: https://www.americanpregnancy.org/pregnancyhealth/headaches.html

It's pretty interesting. Hopefully it'll be helpful for others as well. :flower:

I never get headaches/migraines but since being pregnant, I've had quite a few. I've just put it down to hormones and the fact I've not been drinking coffee. It's totally normal from what I've read. X
