Ok so I've heard of the theory regarding the bpm of the babies heartbeat (high is girl and low is boy) but today I read that if the baby is a girl the heartbeat will sound like a galloping horse but if it's a boy it will sound like a train. Has anyone heard of this and did it work? I'd never heard of this before

Yes ive heard of the heartbeat theory and it was right for me. My sons was always 145, even from 6 weeks. This time i had my first u/s at 10 weeks and the heartbeat was 169, i just new it was a girl and from all my vomiting. I was right, she is a girl..

I heard different about the sound tho. Galloping for a boy, and yes i heard that but wooshing for a girl and thats what ive been hearing this time =)

Well mine is high indicating a girl and a galloping sound also indicating a girl, but i have a boy, its all just old wives tales.

I dont believe this either........People on here have had consistently rapid HB and its been a boy.

Although, i must admit, when I first heard my bubs HB...it sounded like a galloping horse and its a girl, so that bit was correct.

Old wives tales!!!! We are a little girl and hers is always 140!!x

Yeah, all old wifes tales, Missy is consistently around 145 - 150 and is very much a thump thump thump. I also had no sickness whatsoever and when my friend insisted doing the "ring test" it said boy :haha:

xxx

ok, Im having a little fella.....i have a doppler and when i listen depending where i hear the HB it can sound like a galloping horse.....or a train!!! it depends on if i pick up the echo the MW told me ;-) but he is definately a boy!!!! BUT the HB is predominantly a train sound....so maybe. As for HB its predominantly around 150 sometimes lower but NEVer been over 160 x

My baby's hb is always under 150 and def sounds like a train. We'll find out Monday!

its not correct for me, my baby boy has a high hb about 156 - 160
and his heartbeat sounds like gallopin horses to me :)

xx

My little ones heartrate was 162, then 150 on wed....he is a little boy so it was wrong with me!!! x

Yeah no one will ever be able to convince me that this theory is true, certainly an 'old wive tale'. The recent study has shown there to be no link between gender and heart rate and my experience of looking after hundreds of pregnant woman showing this also to be rubbish. Been curious of this theory many years ago and observed over the years all the fetal heart rates to what the gender is and it is been nothing more than a tale. Of course some women will say, 'well it was true for me', but of course 50% would have it prove correct.

:)

My LO heartbeat is 155-165 and sounds like a galloping horse to me. But everything else indicates boy for me

I guess it's good for a bit of fun but don't take it seriously. It worked for my DD so we'll see what this baby turns out to be in August. Heartrate has been low and sounds like a train. It's weird though how it can sound like a train or a horse.

My baby's heart beat was around 145 or so...and it does sound like a galloping horse. I am having a girl :)

I can't remember whether it sounded like a horse or train - I just asked hubby and he thinks maybe train and we are having a boy. Will have to check next time.

However, the rate is definitely not true for us - it was 168 at the last check up and we're having a boy!

When I asked the consultant and told him I wanted to know for my sister, who insisted she could determine the sex, he laughed quite a lot!! x

thats intersting i never herd of that before
