When I start to wean DD I was thinking about getting her some of them Heniz juices that I could perhaps give her with her meal when she eventually gets to 3 meals a day and I was wondering..Do they need diluting or do you just put them straight in a cup/beaker??

Most are diluted with spring water already.

Hi hun. I dont know much about juices, but didnt want to read & run. Omar was weaned at wk 20 & until now I only give him water & formula. We had some problems with water, but now he really likes it. I offer him few sips with his solids since we started weaning. xx

Yeah she drinks water anyway. My HV recommended it from day 1. I just wanted the juices so I could give her a swig or 2 after her main meal. I wouldn't give her a whole cup or bottle full. Just something to wash her dinner down with :flow:

I use these and dilute them it's about half juice and half water. It does say in the bottle that you don't have to though x

My concern with the orange flavoured ones is I was always told you shouldnt mix orange and milk (even in the stomache) as it curdles.
Try putting a little milk and orange in a glass and youll see what I mean, apparently that happens in the stomach.
I know most are fine with it but the idea just puts me off.

I saw these juices the other day £1.69!!!! If I ever give Anna juice it certainly wont be that!!! I have tried her a few sips of Robinsons - diluted 1 to 10. If its only for a tiny few sips now and again then these 'baby juices' are not providing any extra nutrition and are a waste of money.

I don't think they're a waste of money, when heavily diluted one bottle goes a long way.

I wouldn't give her the orange one. I react badly to orange juice so wouldn't give her it for fear of the same thing happening x

Thanks for you're input but that comment seemed a bit rude to me and didn't really answer my question anyway.

I don't think they're a waste of money either! Jacob likes some juice every now and again :). He gets his nutrients through his milk and food. I don't really see the harm!

Your original post said you were thinking of trying the Heinz juices - I said they were expensive and offered a money saving alternative - I believe I answered your question but sorry if you have taken that to be rude:flower:

The baby juice is already diluted.
If i was desperate whilst out and about i would buy one and pour it straight into Tyler's cup and he'd love it. But if i can, i always dilute juice even more as 'apparently' its not good for babys (too much sugar).
My son has always refused to drink water so its juice or milk for us!!

I give my LO heinz juice with her lunch and dinner. I started doing it because she was dropping feeds and I wanted to make sure she was getting enough liquid and also I wanted her to get used to drinking from a sippy cup. I also read that giving them some baby juice with meals helps them to absorb the nutrients from their food.

The Heinz juice is already diluated for them. Its not that expensive as your only using a little amount each day so it goes along way.

:hugs:

I tried Casey with water and she really didnt seem to like it, so i bought these juices, and she does definately prefer them. the bottle does say you dont need to dilute but i have done, very heavily because i would LIKE her to enjoy water really, just wanted something to add a hint of flavour for her. also i think for the money its good, mine will last forever the amount i put in :) lol x

If she takes water I would stick with that. Baby juices have added sugar which they don't need. Sugar, particularly refined sugar, is really bad for developing teeth. At the end of the day though it's your choice. :) If you are going to give it to her I would say give it to her in a regular cup, not a bottle or sippy cup as they'll keep those in their mouths for much longer periods of time as they can suck on them.

i've not bothered with baby juice, every one i've looked at has to be used within 4 days of opening ! i'm cheap, so she has water instead :) (and it's better for her)

I was under the impression heinz juices said that - and my LO doesnt get through even half a bottle in that time, so its a waste for us
