I saw a patient today that finally fell pregnant after six years of trying and I confided in her that DH and I were having a few problems ourself. In a way that only those of us who have suffered the agony of fertility problems can appreciate she was truly lovely and inspiring.

She told me that she got her DH to eat a bowl of tomato soup every day to help his :spermy: she told me to google it (which I have) and although she told me that she personally had a whole host of other fertility problems that had to be treated, she does believe the soup helped.

I found this article from the daily mail, but there is so many more out there!

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/science...wl-of-tomato-soup-a-day-boosts-fertility.html

So I have talked it over with DH and he has agreed to take up the Heinz challenge! So any of you ladies going to try and get your dear partners to give it a bash?

im so trying that :haha: luckily mu hubby loves the stuff

UGH! I wish mine will!

I love tomato soup and he can not stand it! He wouldn't eat it for nothing! It makes him GAG everytime he eats it

:trouble:

wow let us know if it works :) wow everyday I would get sick of that soup by the end ;)

he doesnt get a choice for the next two weeks, i pack his lunch!!! :haha: :haha:

:haha: nice! I wish I could do that! If I did that, he'll be calling me stating not to do that again :haha: it makes him

I've never heard of that before. Crazy! I'm feeling lazy so I don't want to google it. Did you find anything about the science behind why they think it works?

Don't think I can get him to eat it every day but will be feeding it to him more often!

it says,

It is not known what part lycopene actually plays in fertility, although it has been suggested that the antioxidant may mop up harmful free radicals in the body which can affect fertility.

Tomato products have been thought for some time to have beneficial health properties because of their high concentration of lycopene, but this is the first time they have been shown to boost fertility.

I LIKE THIS BIT They have discovered that lycopene, which gives tomatoes their bright red colouring, can turn sperm into super-sperm. :happydance::happydance::happydance:

That was my thinking too! Super Sperm would be marvelous!

My lovely patient stated that her DH used to love tomato soup but since she fell pregnant he hasn't touched it :haha:

I think that it is a small sacrifice for men to make considering all the crap we have to do!

Too right Feisty! It's his turn to do something extra!!! Though I may join him sometimes to be supportive (and because I love tomato soup!)

I just googled lycopene. There are other sources of it. They say that tomatoes have the highest level but it is also found in other foods.
My husband loves watermelon, so maybe I can start with that.

Foods highest in lycopene include tomatoes, pink grapefruit, watermelon, and guava. Other foods containing small amounts of lycopene include persimmon and apricots.

Wow... super sperm!!!

But my husband doesn't like tomato soup/ sauce. He does like raw tomatoes though. Maybe I can get him eat more raw tomatoes/ watermelons. Btw, how about guava juice? My husband loves guava juice too!

Anyways, I'll show him that news article!

Haha...I picture all of us reading this, going to the store and filling our carts with tomato soup, watermelon and guava juice :) YES, I agree, it is their turn to do something crazy in this journey! I'm stocking up for sure!

Interesting stuff!

I know that lycopene is found in varying amounts in anything with red skin or a naturally red colouring so I suppose anything like that would help if DHs don't like tomato soup...

x

looks like i'm off to Tesco in the morning for, toms, red peppers, soup, watermelon and anything else red i can lay my hands on

I have a good feeling about this!

DH started to grumble about not wanting to ruin his love of tomatoes by eating them every day - one deadly glance from me soon silenced him! :haha:

I wonder if there is a positive fertility effect in women?

Thanks for sharing, loved the article! We've actually been eating tomato soup a lot lately without even knowing this because DH LOVES grilled cheese and tomato soup. I guess it's a blessing in disguise lol :).
