Hi,

I am looking for some advice from those who have experienced this. My little one (6 months) has a cold but today he was crying and coughing so much that he vomited twice in the space of 10 minutes. His temperature was up slightly so gave him paracetamol and he seemed in so much pain.

Is this normal behaviour for a child when they have the cold?

Sounds like a virus of some sort. Lots of fluids and vit C rich food if he's on solids. Berry smoothly?

Not much a doctor can do but no harm in checking with them if you're worried.

Humidifier might help, or just a bowl of water by the radiator.

Hi Bean66,

He's not on solids yet but he's due to start in 1 week. I might be tempted to start him early though. I had him at the docs today and he listened to his chest and said that it sounded clear and that the cold will run its course.

I have a cool mist humidifier and it has been helping during the night but today is the first time he has coughed so much he vomited so therefore got really worried. I finally got him off to sleep but will have no hesitation calling the emergency GP is he is the same tomorrow.

You might be right about him possibly having a virus.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
