This has been really bugging me lately.. I'm going to be 7 months in a week and co-workers (I hate these b*stards) keep saying I'm carrying so small.. FIRST of all don't tell me that. It makes me paranoid. Last time I went to the doctor I measured 23 cm that was at 24 weeks. BUT to myself, I do seem small.. Help!!

Anyone else carrying small, or was carrying smaller??

I didn't realise your co-workers were doctors!

The next time they make a comment tell them just that. Then say that your doctor...the expert on this....has said that you're just fine!

Every womans body grows at the rate that it feels is best of the baby...not what it feels society thinks it needs to be!

Someone told me last week I didn't look pregnant enough yet. All my scans show perfect and I can feel LO just fine all day long. Explained to her when I wanted to worry I would sure come to her for her misinformed advice but to otherwise please keep her gob shut as I didn't need the fake worry. I love my hormones :)

I'm 22 weeks and people can't even tell yet that I'm pregnant. All the ones I've told have exclaimed upon seeing me, "You're so tiny!" but I'm not bothered because at my 20 week scan baby was measuring on target and as long as baby is fine and healthy I'm happy :) So don't let those people bother you, what do they know!

Also, a lady at work who was pregnant last year had such a tidy little bump that no one knew she was pregnant till she told everyone one month before she went on maternity leave. She gave birth to a lovely, healthy baby girl! :)

Some peolpe are just plain ignorant or rude. with my last pregnacy i was carrying a little small and got alot of comments like oh your so small your baby is going to be so tiny. i even had a sister in law who was due 2 weeks ahead of me and she carrying big and she would rub it in my face like i was doing something wrong. she would tell me her baby is going to big and healthy and mine is going to be a little runt. well she delivered a 6 pound baby and 2 weeks later i had my son who weighed over 8 lbs. well you should of seen her face. long story short regardless of how you are carrying doesnt always the determine the size or health of the little one.

UGH.. I know... and I hate unsolicited advice.. I really shouldnt pay attention to some of these women... theyre a mess anyway. I will say I think its also because Im carry low so Im guessing it makes me look smaller. Thanks for your help!!!

OH NO!! Family in law or not I would have cracked her one saying my kid was going to be a runt, but I guess thats just the fighter in me..
I know youre right, I just have to remember as long as the doctor says im going then im good.. I must say I do have an outtie now ( NOT a fan) so I know hes getting bigger....

I carried small with my son too and I got those comments a lot. They never bothered me though! As long as doctor says all is fine then there is nothing to worry about

I'm pregnant with my 2nd baby and i am also carrying my baby well-and so don't have a big bump. I have to admit i could slap people when they say oh you're so tiny! you don't even look pregnant! I know i am small-but i do have a bump. I must usually look fat then! :( Silly people!

Dont listen we have enough to stress about without people adding to it!!

I am the same although I am a UK size 18 and 26 weeks but dont look pregnant yet at all!!

i hear it a lot too! im 26-27 weeks and i just got a bit of a belly this month. before that you couldnt really tell.
next time someone says that, you should say, "Oh i didnt realize youre a doctor!"

Dont worry about the comments and the size of your belly. When I was pregnant with DD I got that all the time but she was born just perfect! Id rather be small than huge..no offence to anyone :)

Just ignore them. At my last appointment, my doctor asked me if people were telling me I was carrying small, to which I answered yes. The doctor said that I shouldn't worry because all the measurements were normal and the baby is in no way small (if anything, a bit on the big side). He explained that I would not have a huge baby bump because of the shape of my pelvic girdle allows the baby to sit in a way that doesn't stick out as much. He also said "You're friends are going to be so jealous and are going to drive you crazy with their comments about you being small. Truth is, everything is fine so pay no attention to those comments."

So... if your doc/midwife isn't worried about the size of the baby, you probably shouldn't worry either.

I wouldn't bother, next time tell them you are carrying just fine and your doctor thinks so too. I am 22 weeks this week and someone said Oh.... you're small for how far along you are. Well, last time I checked, everyone carries differently and not everyone comes in a size perfect, there's no such thing during pregnancy. xx

I get that too and its really annoying people telling you ' your small for 6 months' arrghh it makes me start to worry!

I get this a lot too, I was a size 6 before, so I usually say well I had a flat stomach before and then I look at their stomach in a way that says "aren't you a little overweight!" meaning concentrate on your own body and I'll deal with mine. they usually get the gist and get embarrassed!
Everybody thinks they are a doctor!!!

I think its a stupid thing to say to someone... but I guess maybe they think they're paying us complements...

I love how everyone is either too big or too small when they are pregnant.

They are all too opinionated!

you know, i was thinking this too the other day. maybe since some women are overly sensitive about their weight, they think its better to say how small we are instead of how big we are? :-s

dont worry hun, people talk crap sometimes.

My friend was carrying small and even had to have extra midwifes appointments to check her measurements and stuff and her baby was nearly 10 pounds when he arrived!

xxxx

Dont worry about it hun at 6 months everyone looks diffferent, but in all honesty id rather people say i looked small than i looked huge! i was huge with my son n at 30 weeks people would comment and say 'havent you had him yet' as i looked full term plus some! ( he was born weighin 9lb 12oz lol) so take it as a compliment and just think wont be hard to lose the weight after the baby :)
